Really? Blondeau was a bit crap and Hazan a bit insignificant, but Connolly and Gravelaine were both very gifted players.

The reason I asked is that a fella from 442 magazine e-mailed me earlier asking me to write a few lines about the best and worst foreigners so thought I owuld put it out to get the opinion of everyone. The best looks like a tie between super Al and H at the moment. I was surprised Galli didn't get a few more mentions but his tenure was largely tainted by the manager at the time.

Meola and Issa are looking favourites for the worst at the moment. I have told him I will get something back to him in the early part of next week so I will see how this thread goes over the course of the weekend.

I didn't think Issa was that bad, *waits to be pelted with rotten tomatoes, I think Jan Lohman hasn't got enough praise either.

It depends on your definition of "worst". I wasn't taking about how gifted they were. Gravelaine was a mercenary and Connolly was just a ****.

Ah, ok. As per the first post, I'm asking about ability only - not how popular/unpopular they were.

Best - Super Al or HH. Galli was pure class and a great professional. You could tell he just loved to play the game. But it's between Al and HH both for their ability and commitment to the cause.

Worst - Issa. He was just plain crap.

Sietes best signing, never played but he has his own song.

Worst, too many so difficult to single them out.

Must be quite young and not remember many like me. I thought Alexandrs Cauna was a really decent player and would've loved to have him back.

My best are: Super Al, Nordin Wooter, HH
Worst: Not including Sietes because I never actually saw him play. I can't remember many bad foreign players in my lifetime. I'm going to go with Mart Poom.

I checked to see where Steve Kabba/Ellington were from because I could've sworn one of them was eligable to play for Jamaica. I found this under Steve Kabba on Wikipedia and it made me chuckle:

"is an English professional footballer who can run 100m in 9.34 seconds and is the current world record holder."

True. I didn't think of him until after my post.

Do Scotch/Welsh/Oirish really count as foreign?

Best:- Allan Neilsen, oozed class and could easily have got a game at most Premiership clubs when he came to us.

Worst:- Tony Meola, Absolutly cracking bloke to talk to but unfortunatly our poorest import ever

Best: Jan Lohman and Alan Nielson

Worst: That Norwegian keeper ex Spurs, can't think of his name began with Th something like Thorsted. Vega was also a huge disappointment. Issa was not as bad as these.
