Default Prediciton League 11/12 Rules, questions and stuff.

It's back for another year, the forum prediction league. Most of you will know what it is, but some of the new members may not be so familiar. Many thanks to Evasive & wfcwarehouse for managing last year.

There are a couple of changes so please all read the following.

    What is it?

Every week there will be 5 matches chosen, from different divisions in England, Scotland and beyond, and all you have to do is predict what you think the score of each match will be. The fixtures will go up on a Sunday/Monday (where possible) and we would ask that all predictions be finalised by Friday evenings at Midnight. Any change to the deadline will be explicitly stated in the fixtures thread.

    The Rules:

    The Scoring System:

If you correctly predict the result and score (e.g Holland 0 Spain 1) you will earn 10 pts.

If you correctly predict the result but incorrectly predict the score (e.g Holland 1 Spain 2) you will earn 5 pts.

If you don't get the right result but you correctly guess the number of goals either team scores (e.g Holland 3 Spain 1 ) you will get 2 pts.

There will be a running league table updated weekly, so that you can keep a tally of your progess over the course of the season.

    Bonus:

Once the comp is under way, there will be extra points gathered for predictiing The winners of each league, the FA & League cups and the number of rounds WFC play in each. This replaces meisters millions as I've now got a job to spend some time on

    Posting:

Predictions should be made with your forum username and the scores separated by hyphens e.g. 2-1 Each game on a new line.

    For example:

    hornmeister
    1-2
    2-3
    3-0
    1-1
    1-0

If you miss an entry, then we will automatically use the predictions you made for the previous week in the hope that you might pick up a point or two

The competition will run for the duration of the season, and serial non-entrants will be disqualified at the decisions of the moderating team

    Sign-Up:

If you want to sign up for the 2011/2012 Prediction League, please do so by posting your first predictions in the week 1 thread below.

The deadline for signup will be Wednesday 4th August to give Wfcwarehouse and I enough time to make sure everybody gets a reference number etc before the first week's deadline.

    The Prizes:
    Prizes are £50, £25, £10, £5
I might chuck in some orns also

That is a shame as I was looking forward to defending my title.

If you don't get the opportunity to run Mei$ter$ Million$ again I am honoured to be the Final Champion.

Oh well will have to see if I can improve on my performance in the Prediction League from last year.

    Cheers.

Millions was a awful lot of work and over complicated. I think it scared a lot of people who were not as intelligent as ourselves. Adding league and cup winner guesses to the popular prediction league might be the best way to go.

    Meister,

I agree with you - it needs to be kept simple. A few thoughts:

    1. Just keep the competition to predicting English / Scottish results. Obscure international and foreign games detract from the comp.
    2. Special competitions for points are ok as long as they are relevant. When they become a little silly that again detracts from the comp.
    3. Can the weekly results be published by the Tuesday after the weekend at the latest?

Well done for running it. Berko

You can join at anytime, but as you're 600+ points behind the leaders then it will be for fun only. Try the Last man Standing competition which opened today if you need a fix.

Hornmeister, i'm jetting off to New Zealand and Australia this friday evening for a fieldtrip up until the 11th April. Obviously, as I somehow sit at the top of the Prediction League table, i'm quite keen to try and stay there, however it's unlikely i'll have an opportunity to get on here whilst i'm away to make predictions, mainly due to issues of staying in places with no electricity for a few days etc etc, and also due to costs of accessing the internet from my phone down-under might not be a good move!

Whilst i'll be here to predict for this weekend (week 33), I wonder if it'd be possible for you to post week 34 and 35's fixtures too before friday afternoon if you find the time? It would be greatly appreciated. If not, can you please use the same set of predictions I post this week on the following two weeks (Sat 31st March, and Sat 7th April) - though not ideal, i'd then hopefully pick up a few points here and there until I get back on the 11th. I appreciate you're busy and may not have the time at the moment, but thanks anyway!

I'll keep your predictions rolling over something that does happen for anyone that misses up to 3 weeks in a row. You might be able to get in whilst you're away and update. Think this is probably the best way to do it as I haven;t a clue what's happening tomorrow let alone in 3 weeks

Ahh excellent, cheers meister. As you say, I may be able to get a chance to post some predictions whilst i'm down there, but if you can keep my predictions rolling until i return on the 11th if I don't, that'd be great.
