Last week the hosts went "off air" unexpectedly after a big power cut at the Kent datacentre. This caught us all by surprise so there was no way of giving any of you warning that it was coming or what we were doing to get back online, it just sort of happened. Three+ hours later we were back again.
This got us thinking about how to communicate if the worst ever happens, IE. the hosts go offline for an extended period without notice, or the very worst happens and they go bust, taking the domain name offline for possibly weeks. If this were to happen then we can easily set up the forum under a different URL, but the problem comes with communicating this to all the wonderful users!
So this is where Twitter comes in. We've setup a twitter account where important messages can be posted if we lose the ability to do it here.
To find us is a very easy task.
If you're a member and logged in you can simply search for wfcforums.
If not then all you need to type is wfcforums AFTER the Twitter URL, so
www.twitter.com/wfcforums.
You can bookmark it if you feel the need.
It won't be used for any other reason apart from downtime, so no updates every time Hornmeister takes a leak or I make a cup of tea, we'll leave that for the Lilly Allen's of this world.
Facebook was considered and is even mentioned on the Twitter page, but with Twitter we won't get 500 requests every day to join Farmville and all the other cr*p, so Twitter it is.
