It's Gilligan's Island, and we're all just living in it.

If Cleverley gets to see the season out (you have to assume this will be the case even with our owner) and does a decent job in that time but isn't given the job permanently, do you think he'll be happy to go back to the youth set up? He might feel as if he's ready to take a job elsewhere if he's overlooked here (unless of course the rest of the season finishes poorly despite the early promise). Will other clubs come calling?

Can't help feeling that it would be a shame to lose him to another club if we have a decent end to the season where he demonstrates he has the making of a good coach.

I think a League 1 club will come calling. Oxford, Reading (if they get a sensible new owner), Orient etc.
If Pozzo offered him the job full time he knows he wouldn't be given time or overall control over signings and be sacked by Xmas. Better to build a management career with a stable club.

Notice all the usual podders are falling in love with Clevs after 3 games and whacking off to the idea of him getting the job full time.

Yes quite a lot saying it - naturally after 2 good performances but of course things can change quickly .

Been better than under VI’s last few weeks for now though so obviously Clev is flavour of the month.

You could have a rubber duck in charge and the Zoom callers would be telling you that it ‘just gets it’. They are the football equivalent of ‘The Masked Singer’.

If results continue to be reasonable until the end of the season, would be more than happy for TC to be given a chance on the proviso that he was given an experienced no2. Seem to recall Keith Burkinshaw being a great no2 for Aidy Hoof back in the day, so someone who has loads of experience to support and help navigate through the bad spells

Someone who was manager at Forest Green for so long he didn’t see his monthly salary, is hardly someone with loads of experience!

A common twitter post from podders is one which simply posts a picture of Edwards, Ismael, Cleverly etc with the 2 word post “MY MANAGER”. Before doing the same for the next one.

Give me one reason why they shouldn't? He's doing a fantastic job thus far.
No clue what a Podder is or care to know but imo currently we'd be very lucky to secure TC for the future.
If the finances are correct we're certainly not on the lookout for a new Head coach when they can recruit from within.

Isn't the obvious reason that it's a story as old as time that one manager / head coach gets binned and the next cab off the rank (caretaker or otherwise) manages to get a response?

They don't always get a response as history tells us. In all honesty TC has managed it with probably the weakest squad we've had since Pozzo took over.
We've just taken two of the leagues inform teams to the wire. I will mention Asprilla again, one simple pass to Dennis could of seen us go Three up against The Albion. But poor individual mistakes cost us victories in both games.
Let's be honest we could get a lot worse than Cleverly.

Sure, I'm certainly not against him, though I'm pretty much worn down by it all and at the point where I reckon you could put Pep or Klopp in charge and they'd flounder in time with our squad / ownership / recruitment strategy fixed as it is. Really don't see the case for anything beyond shoulder shrugging when it comes to Our Tom at the moment. Taking a couple of teams to the wire but ultimately failing to hold onto a lead is a pretty low threshold to declare him fantastic in my opinion.

Give him the gig, odds on he'll be out the door again before the Christmas lights go up and then the debate will shift to justifying why it was never going to work with someone who was so entrenched in the existing club setup being put in charge of the first team and why we now need an outsider to come in and get our further reduced squad geed-up. Not saying you'll do that... but plenty will.

That is why we will want to see if this is the long term approach rather than just the players feeling a bit more relaxed with no great pressure on them and a new manager to impress who was also their team mate last season.

We haven't really got any easy games coming up - if there is such a thing in the Championship so the tests will continue.

I think the squad got fed up of Ismael as much as he seemed to get annoyed and frustrated with them.

A fresh face (sort of) was good for all in the short term.

No and I didn't quote it as fantastic. Maybe as you said entrenched in the existing set-up could be a good thing. It could be exactly what's needed and it will cost Pozzo absolutely nothing. But then he doesn't spend on recruiting coaches just paying off their contracts. Presently he has brought back what I want from my club, desire, heart and a front foot mentality. He's had weeks and we can all see improvement. Can we really ask for more ATM?
But yes I agree mostly on your points but only time will tell but history does prove your thinking is logical.

I think it would nice to see a new radical approach, appointing a promising young but inexperienced English manager, and then backing him to succeed, "come hell or high water". Worth a try ? Hopefully a good pre-season.

Now you’re being silly. You have to trust these players to monitor their own fitness levels. They’re professionals, don’t you know.
