When will he no longer be "the right fit"?

On a hiding to nothing as Pozzo continues to dismantle the club, cosy up with Bayat and suck all joy out of being a Watford fan.

I was all in favour of the appointment until I heard he’s interimming.

Now we may still have a cushion, but with our fixtures, it's a big job to give to an interim who was a player a year ago. The players probably like him (not that I'm saying they got Val sacked as they'd played alright in the last 1 and a half games), which might help, but is he the man who is suddenly going to make us look coherent tactically going forward?

Think someone on here (@Burnsy?) suggested we wouldn't get a new manager from outside?

In the circumstances it’s a good appointment,
    No cost to acquire
    Knows the team
    Has the fans approval
I hope they appoint him to his previous position when his term ends!

For those who have seen the U18s under Clevs, what can we expect in terms of tactics and formation?

Welcome to our 21st manager since the Pozzo’s took over.

I really hope Udinese get relegated. As bad as the championship is, Serie B is atrocious with zero money. Maybe they might just focus on us again to help Udinese get out of Serie B.

So Tom Cleverley becomes our Manager with the third highest appearances for us a player, after
Kenny Jackett 362 appearances manager 96/97
Fred Pagnam 211 appearances manager 1926-29
Tom Cleverley 206 appearances manager 2024

As a modern day coach probably much the same .

Anyway with our upcoming games probably won’t see much of the ball to attack with !

It's probably irrelevant what he would like to play/what his style is given chances are he won't have the players to do it. Same as Ivic, Ismael, Edwards and the rest of them. They try to implement their philosophy/tactics and then give up and cobble together something else in an attempt to paper over the glaring weaknesses in the squad.

I wonder what Tomball will entail. I have a vision of 11 miniature Cleverleys charging around, snapping at the heels of opposition players, all whilst giving 110%. Or will it be 120%?

I think given he’s recently retired and a young manager, it’ll be a progressive, intense press style. Gary O’Neil has done well as an average Prem midfielder turned manager, hopefully Cleverley follows a similar path. I like the idea of young managers recently out the game; they tend to understand players a bit better.
