I'm not wholly opposed to a little bit of match fixing in this one between us and west ham for a point each.
West Ham have a get out of jail card with the Villa fixture. Sadly we don't... anything we can get out of this game would be a positive result.
If we win tomorrow are we mathematically safe on account of West Ham and villa still to play each other?
I think the worst that could happen if we win tomorrow is all the teams would end up on 37 points. We would need to lose the last 2 games, Bournemouth to win both, West Ham to win one and Villa to win both.
If we won tomorrow by one goal, and the above scenario happened Bournemouth could finish above us on goal difference if they made up 5 goals on us, with us Losing two games the maximum would be 3 to make up they would make this up probably by winning their last two games! It’s not over yet, come on Southampton!
If we win tomorrow we're definitely safe. I know I thought that after Newcastle but this time I'm sure I'm right.
Strangely we won't necessarily be safe if we win tomorrow but lose the other two, but we would be safe if we draw all three games.
West Ham out to 10/1 to go down, while we’re 10/3. Shows the difference a mildly better goal difference and no Man City on the horizon makes.
They worry if we win tomorrow is that we put the moccasin flip flops on against City then slide off the glass relegation mountain on GD.
West Ham play Man United next week, who are fighting for a Champions league spot, City have nothing to play for
I’m not sure that is correct, as if we draw all three we stay at plus five goal difference over Bournemouth, however if they win their last two games with a better than 5 GD wouldn’t they go ahead of us!
I've been fairly confident all season that we would stay up. But I now have a nagging feeling we're going down on goal difference on the last day of the season - losing out to Bournemouth once again due to a late goal.
To be fair they are not really their rivals, Bournemouth enjoys pretending that they are to give them some sort of relevance but in reality, all of the other clubs on The South Coast think they are irrelevant. I am currently living on the outskirts of Coventry and with the exception of Villa fans, most of The West Midlands will be cheering us on also.
I can’t remember who said they get more nervous watching matches on TV than when they’re actually at the match, but I agree. Also find I feel slightly less miserable if I simply see from the scoreline that we’re losing, than if I see it happening on the box. I therefore can’t face watching it tonight. I shall be drinking a stiff g&t and keeping everything crossed that I am missing a historic Watford win.
I've got a funny feeling this could go one of three ways. There may or may not be a goal or two and VAR may or may not play it's part. How exciting! Lets go Hornets! I've ordered an extra supply of nappies for the bed-wetters, just in case we win.
Since the Southampton debacle I have only watched the first half of the Newcastle game. I get wound up watching on TV, had Muff and Villa not won last Sunday tonight would have been a bit more relaxing, so I probably won't watch tonight. I will treat it as a normal-life away match where I will check the score after the final whistle.
An ex colleagues husband was a Liverpool fan, who was extremely superstitious and believed that watching them in any important game was bad luck. So he would never watch their big games believing if he did they’d lose. I never really understood the point of that myself.
I don’t think it was me, but that certainly applies to me. I can’t even look at the scoreline during the match. Or listen to the radio. I was checking the Bournemouth and Villa scorelines during the matches over the past two days and even that put my blood pressure up to unacceptably high levels.
I've got the gloating juice on ice for when we lose and Deeney is ****. I'm gonna type up a load of paragraphs on advance so I can bombard the thread as soon as the final whistle goes.
No chance. Imagine if we win? All the rose tinters will lord it over me. Nah. I'll save it until we get pasted bt Man City if needs be.
