Final home game of the season against a team virtually on the beach. A win mathematically secures PL football next seasoning everyone at ease. Hopefully we get a Chalobah cameo with GD starting with Richarlison and Gray up top.
Gomes recall. Must win game according to many glass half empty hornets. Would be nice to end with a win. Garcia to fire up the team for a last hoorah at the Vic worth 3 places in the League and over £3m. 2-1
Definitely. There's not much between the keepers over the course of the season but Karnezis made the error last game and Gomes is stuck on 99 Premier League appearances for us, so would be a nice touch for him to get that landmark in the last home game, particularly as we might have a new number one next season.
If we are losing at half time, all Gracia has to do is a Fergie and say to the team "lads, it's only Newcastle". Watford always beat Newcastle, so I'm thankful this important game is against our patsy side. Straight forward win, Premier league status reassured, happy days. Watford 3 Patsy's 0
Good feeling about this one. Comfortable win here, acquit ourselves up at Old Trafford, England get to the quarter finals in Russia and we can all look forward to next season with renewed quiet confidence. 0-2 Geordies then
Think we will get a point which will turn out to be enough. Would like to see Gomes, Gray and GD start but given Gray's strength is running onto space and using his pace (cough....well i guess its all relative) I expect TD may return upfront for this home game. Maybe Gracia will play Deeney and Gray upfront - would be good to see.
Watford to sign off a disappointing home campaign with a win. Deulofeu to star. There have been some promising signs under Gracia and this will be the match things click back for him again. A point next week against a side hopefully distracted by the cup final isn’t out the question either.
Strikers wont score so we're fully dependent on the midfield. Will Doucoure and Capoue turn up for this? Will Peyera be fit? Hughes and Deulefou looks like the only one who can score. With Deulefou starting we'll win 2-0, without it'll probably be 0-0.
A dull 0-0 that is only lightened by Deloufeu being brilliant but let down by the strikers and a small cameo from Chalobah. Would also like to see Gomes back in and Cassidy put on the bench instead of Sinclair - as one has a future with us and the other doesn’t. Put Bachmann on the bench alongside Karnezis too to carry on the Walter tradition.
Good to see us in yellow for the Spurs game and the next two, lets hope they are golden performances to give us some optimism for next season, not to mention negating the need to keep looking at other teams scores. COYH
I won't be starting m8 due to muscle imbalance, hopefully 20 minutes in the second half will prove to Messi that I'm good enough.
Can't wait for this one. Sun's out, shorts on, copious amounts of pissy lager swilling around in our guts...it just doesn't get better than this. 4-0 us.
Where's the preview? I want to know where Newcastle is, whether they've won anything in the last 60 years or so, whether there's a river there, the locals' dress code for football matches and whether they speak English.
Having attended every game apart from the home match against Palace, i am hoping to see a good end to the season. Lets hope the players like Gracia enough to not only win the match but in style.
All right chaps? I wouldn't worry to much about this fixture if I were you. We've been terrible since the Arsenal result. Genuinely worst 2 performances this season. The effort hasn't necessarily been lacking, but the cohesion and concentration has deserted us. Slimani is banned which may actually benefit us as we'll likely field the same team that did so well since Christmas. I'd expect; Dubravka Yedlin Lascelles Lejeune Dummett Diame Shelvey Ritchie Perez Kenedy Gayle That is of course if Benitez doesn't rotate a few to put a rocket up the biggest underperformers from the past two games (Shelvey & Ritchie). All in all it's been a very good season for us, and being in the top half going into the last few games is certainly not what I expected when I was last on your board. The January loan signings have been tremendous and Kenedy and Dubravka should be courted for long term deals. Lascelles has been outstanding for the majority of the season and it's criminal that he's not going to Russia. Similarly Shelvey should be on the reserve list at least. Special mention to Mo Diame who was abject early on, but has been transformed into a midfield general by the manager or magic. Games against Spurs and Chelsea follow our trip to Vicarage Rd and unless the CL spots are decided this weekend I could honestly see winless for the rest of the season. Huge question marks over what happens in the summer; will Rafa get the written assurances he wants re spending? will a takeover actually happen? if those don't happen who the new manager will be? What about you lads? How's the season been for you? What do you think of your gaffer? Which players stood out for better or worse? What does the summer hold for you?
So many questions ! It took me until the team line up to realise you weren't a forum regular. In fact even then I was purring at the stronger look to the keeper and defence. I'll handle the gaffer Q. There is much debate here about the gaffer based on the fact he's probably kept us up, but we haven't scored away from home since he joined and are now on a long winless streak. We're feeling more confident about the guy we will get in for June-Oct, very disappointed in his replacement (Nov-Feb), such that we end up really excited about the surprise appointment of Pardew (British AND great experience of the prem) in late Feb. Hope that helps.
I'm sticking with my prediction that we won't get another point this season. I've seen nothing to convince me otherwise. 0-2.
We will play well, look dangerous, miss three easy chances including a one-on-one and an open goal, lose momentum, and then one of our players will inexplicably punch the ball away/fall over/let it roll under his foot/the keeper will drop a cross in the 50th minute (delete as appropriate) for you to score the easiest goal of your season. We will then give up and you will win 3-0. We have a fantastic midfield, decent CBs, terrible full backs, error-prone goalkeepers, and strikers who quite literally never, ever, ever score. And the mental strength of a sad, hungry dog. We have also had the worst injury list of any club for two straight seasons, so if one of our players stubs their toe they vanish for six months and then get re-injured on their first match back. Hamstring pulls are season-ending, and as for anything more serious they might as well just retire.
We all know who'll be after a early substitution so he can be first in the queue to the ice cream van so he can muscle all the children out of the way to get all the lovely icecream. Expect some eye gouging if they don't give him a double flake
Everything will come good for us this Saturday so you Geordies should stand by for a repeat of our 3-0 win at your place this season.
