My girlfriend and her family are Baggies fans and as we were up visiting her Nan last week I watched the game. West Brom set up tactically to stop Bournemouth playing and didn't loose shape and give any space , Baggies were more that happy to let them play it around their own back four and keep their lads behind the ball, Bournemouth did not seem to have any plan B. Although Bournemouth had over 70% of the possession or something stupid like that 1-0 probably flattered them they struggled to cope with Albions directness and physicality and the baggies put the ball into the box at every opportunity crosses, long throws corners and they won almost every aerial battle and got their goal from a set piece and came close with 2 or 3 more set pieces. I like the idea of playing Gray on the counter attack but I would personally be happy with Okaka or Deeney for the physical presence in this one and if we are leading late on bring Gray on for the break.

This said I do think that they are a good team and West Brom will probably stop many teams playing with their tactics this season they literally just seemed to see what Bournemouths formation was and went man to man and were more physical. Albion are also one of the best side at set pieces in the division.

Bournemouth just seem like our bogey team. No matter how well we play they always manage to scrape a draw.

I would be happy for a point away tomorrow. I think they are going to be right up for it in front of their own fans. They had an embarrassing result last week and will want to rectify that, especially at home.

For me it's all about putting them under pressure and on the back foot nicking a goal within the first 20mins. The moment they have to come at us to get back in the game is when we will be able to hit them on the counter. The last two seasons they have faced a vey defensive Watford, this season will be different. We actually have pace for the first time.

It's one of those games that is so close to call that any result, win, draw or loss for Watford, wouldn't surprise me.

I think we are more than capable of beating them. I also think we are capable of taking the foot off the pedal and allowing them back in the game.

They play good football, football we have all desired to see us replicate the past two seasons, rather than the dross we had to watch. We finally have a footballing coach and a better squad than last season. I just think this type of game (physical and dirty) might be to early for our new boys.

    Heart says Watford win 3-2
    Head says Watford lose 3-2

For someone that doesn't condone violence, this post sounds a lot like admiration for Watford fans involved in it.

If I was to be more precise I would say I do not condone people starting trouble for no reason. However as popular as this opinion may be I would have to say that I do have admiration the lads that stuck up for themselves and other Hornets. In both of the events that I mentioned the oppositions fans were looking to fight with Watford fans. In Birmingham it started when a load of Blues lads attacked a young lad in a Watford shirt for no apparent reason other than being a Watford supporter and we had just drummed them 4-0, a load of Watford boys who I do not even think were with the Watford fan that had been attacked stuck up for him. Fair play in my opinion. Again the one in Watford happened because a group of Bournemouth lads were walking down the road shouting about Watford being a s***hole and then starting on a Watford lad and grabbbing him only for the lads mates to step in.

I don't know exactly when this thread switched from ironic 'Bournemouth are our rivals' jokes, to verging on homophobic and glorifying pathetic teens pretending to be Danny Dyer. But this thread has imploded into an embarrassing mess.

We will drag AFCB kicking and screaming back to school today.
Shame Pererya won't be fit enough to give them a masterclass, but I am very confident of giving them a good hiding.

I don't really buy into the Bournemouth hatred. It seems bizarre that some of our fans refer to them as tinpot, sh1te stadium, punching above their weight, not belonging in the promised land etc. Who do we think we are, we're not exactly big boys. As for them being soft southerners, I can't imagine teams from the previously industrial areas of England think we're particularly hard.

It seems we are a pretty similar type of club and we dislike them for the same reasons others might mock us.

I like the fact that there is a tiny club with a 10000 stadium in the premiership that is financially stronger than Leeds, Villa, Sheffield Wednesday, etc. I hope they stay up providing it's not at our expense.

Ugh. And here's yet another new poster who is either a troll, a wronged former/current poster, a little bit 'out there' or wants to play a wrestling style gimmick as some sort of wacky doctor whilst contributing nothing but thread derailing nonsense to the forum.

Can we not ban multiple accounts if they are rubbish? Moog's tend to be fun and harmless. This one seems more sinister.

I've read this thread in its entirety (which is pretty sad in itself) and find myself unsure what its purpose is.
Is it spite masquerading as humour, self-righteous jealousy-politics in the guise of morality one-upmanship, edgy referential jokiness where each person tries to out-clever the others, male-bonding clique-building humour where everybody uses an avatar but actually the in-group all know each other? Or is it about, um oh yes, football?
I only joined this forum recently, because I was impressed by the level of humour and literacy (eg the excellent preview, and compare the forum at Wobby); but I think I could do without the second-rate political instruction. Sorry to be stuffy.
Just for the record I am white, middle-class and old, but I'm not apologizing for it, nor do I think I should feel guilty about it.
By the way: Neither side will look the finished product, 2 - 2 and more injuries, but thank God Mazzari's gone.

The Bournemouth dislike is kind of obvious.

They were the darlings of the championship because the pundits constantly failed to mention their huge financial backing.

They systematically dived and cheated to a record breaking number of penalties.

They beat us to the title, when they really shouldn't have.

And now we're in a new league, where again they are the media darlings - which was especially annoying when we finished ahead of them.

They are the only team we can really compare ourselves to, so beating them has added meaning.

That doesn't mean I hate them. I want them to stay in the league.

But I get extra satisfaction when we beat them, and hope we trounce them today.

The vitriol towards Bournemouth spawned from skewed media representations of our two clubs during our promotion season and on into our first premier league season.

I thought everyone knew that. People have found it highly irritating for a long time that they were a rags to riches footballing romance and we were the snakes under the sun. That isn't actually their fault as a club of course. And to be fair, looking at it objectively, most neutral English fans would probably find more reason to like what their story over ours.

As always, far more irritating than media representation is the fact that so many football fans are brainless and can't see that it's just people supporting their football club. Far more important to me is that fans of this club represent themselves well so that we can have less of this aggression at games. At times during our time in this league this time around, we have been impressed by some sets of travelling fans and revolted by others. Perhaps we might think about what impression clubs get of our fan base a little more?

I also have to say (again) that it's quite depressing when the gay jokes start surfacing as one of the first recourses for people who get themselves involved in public slanging matches.

It's so much more corrosive than people think. (I use the phrase lightly as it's a clear example of people not thinking at all!)

Constantly aggravating is that every effort is made to rid the game of every form of discrimination except homophobia. Must we, the club made by one of the most high profile homosexuals in the world, contribute to the problem?
