Hello all, I’m going traveling with my wife to Vietnam on the 22nd of December to 23rd of January. It’s out belated honeymoon. Would appreciate any must sees, do’s, dont’s and places to a void etc. We’re flying into Hanoi and the plan is to work our way down the east coast. End up in the south. We will then work our way back up the east where I hear the beaches are better. We want the first 2 weeks to be more action packed in terms of activities and then the remaining 2 to be more relaxing on a beach. I’m fully aware December is their winter time but in the south it will still be 20 odd degrees which for us brits is sunbathing territory! Anyway any advice greatly appreciated
As you probably know, there is a real difference in the climate between north and south. Hanoi will be pretty dull and cloudy most of the time, and temperatures can be near freezing at night time, if you are unlucky, whereas right down south it is likely to be 25c to 30c. So pack carefully.
A old colleague of mine went "cow shooting" in Vietnam. Apparently one of the weapons offered was a rocket launcher. How would you like your steak sir?
Thanks for the advice so far people. I have also heard this, along with other species of target. they were also offered the option to upgrade and shoot at one of the locals if you paid enough.... crazy!
Hoi-An was easily the loveliest place I stayed when there. It was 16 years ago mind. Beautiful scenery, very relaxed. Hue, with the Forbidden City is worth a look too.
Hoi-An is beautiful, a must see/stay, 9p a pint of the local beer, when I asked the strength, reply was anywhere between 4% and 10%, only last 24 hours. When we were in Ho Chi Minh City, a tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels was amazing. Fantastic holiday.
