I've seen a lot of both, even before they both broke in to the first team; Greenwood has always stole the show.

It seems very unlikely he'll leave there to come here though. At his age he probably won't have (m)any seasons left in the tank at the same level.

How highly would you rate Shomurodov by comparison then? I've only been able to check out his stats and look at highlight videos.

I think Shomurodov isn't Premier league quality. He'd be decent in Championship probably but I just don't think he's good enough for prem. Sardar Azmoun who also plays for Zenit is a superb player too. Shomurodov is in my opinion the fifth best forward in the league, with the Zenit duo in first two places and Chalov from CSKA and Sobolev as third and fourth.

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but the transfer window dates have bee published.

    https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/18583953.premier-league-clubs-agree-transfer-window-dates/

    27th July to 5th October.

This may work out quite well for us if we do go down. Would Deulofeu be completely fit and convincing clubs to part with probably around £30m for his services? He maybe fit enough to play by then but he's only got about a month to convince clubs to buy him. After an ACL injury clubs usually would like to see if he's over it before a big money move elsewhere.

What I think might happen, is Watford would loan their star players for a season, in the hope they bounce straight back. Players like Geri and Sarr I could see not actually being sold outright, but sent on loan to the Premier League, only if we go down of course.

Right now, I don't think Watford would get optimum price for either player, so makes sense if they cannot convince them to play in the Championship, just to loan them for a season and hope we bounce back immediately.

Is SerbianHornet legit? I thought it was another Hornet23 sock, but now I'm not so sure.

Two players who might want away from Liverpool as they don't get much of a look in with the first team are: -

    Origi
and perhaps more realistically of the two for us to go for Shaqiri. Either of them would be a great addition to our striking power IMO and not to unrealistic for us to go in for.

  6. Harrybassetthater

Shaqiri definitely but not convinced with Origi.

We were sniffing around Origi (or rumoured to be) a year or so ago. That was just before he came on as sub against Everton and scored that dramatic last minute winner against them. He turned his fate around and did well, scoring important Champions League goals.

Since then, he's faded a bit and looks a little out of place in Liverpool's dynamic forward line when he plays.

I'd have him in a heartbeat. I think he'd be a great signing for a club like us. Same goes for Batshuayi at Chelsea, who is looking to leave. Maitland-Niles wants out at Arsenal for first team football.

These are all quality players who can't quite hold down a place in a top 6 club, but would do very well for us. These are the types of players we should be looking at if we are to seriously progress as a club. We need better quality up front and Origi and Batty would be great additions.

I'm hopeful that we get Todibo this time. He's a good young player. He didn't really stand out for Barca if I'm honest, but you can see he has a lot of potential. Maybe not a Champions League player at this moment in time, but we're not a Champions League club (yet). He would be a big upgrade on our current central defensive options, and this is all that matters.

Of course, as always, this is all dependant on us staying up.

The only way Origi would come to us is if he was kidnapped.

Dreamland has started early this year.

Batshuayi is a good shout, I had forgotten all about him, but I have always liked him and have suggested we go in for him in the past, so yes he could be just what we need, I also like Giroud , but he has been getting a lot of game time recently.

Having said that Giroud is getting on a bit so Chelsea might want to get rid of him, so he could be worth a cheeky look at as well.

So Shaqiri & Origi from Liverpool and also Batshuayi & Giroud from Chelsea are the sort of players we should be going in for IMO if we have any ambition, that is of course assuming we survive as a PL club this season.

Giroud has signed a new deal recently at Chelsea and has turned his outlook around there, scoring frequently. No chance.

Rumours that Liverpool didn’t go for Werner because Origi signed a new deal not that long ago and Klopp wanted to show faith in him - if that’s true, I’m doubtful they want to offload him. And even if they do, I think he’s too expensive now given his exploits last season (and new deal) probably pushed his fee/wages beyond what we can afford.

Batshuayi - possibly. But I bet he’s on a fair old wage at Chelsea. And outside of a fairly productive spell at Dortmund, I’ve still never got the fuss about him as a player. I don’t think he would represent value for money personally.

If Gray leaves, it’s possible we will be in the market for a striker. But I really think we will add one/both of Cucho/Suarez to the squad and strengthen elsewhere. If we’ve got funds, it must be directed towards CB’s/FB’s.

Shaqiri - undoubted talent. But he’s hated by Stoke for the way he just threw the towel in. And he’s been bombed from Liverpool’s squad pretty much too. There’s always been question marks about his attitude and the last thing we need is more ‘talented’ passengers. Without going over what I’ve said previously, Lallana on a free would be far better value and fit we need more than Shaqiri.

I’ve no problem with saying we should be looking at players of such stature, as I agree. But they have to be value for money.

Trouble is Liverpool mark up the price as these players now have Liverpool on their cv. So it’s down to Bournemouth types to pay over the odds for these rejects.

Even put Sinclair on that list. Sackho ( excuse spelling) palarse defender too. Think they made money on him.

Piatek, Luka Jovic and Chris Smalling haha.

We're awful what makes anyone think we can attract that level of talent.

The first 2 I agree with, silly suggestions. Not sure Chris Smalling is so bad a suggestion though. Clearly won’t play at United, and can’t see any other Top 6 club wanting him (Arsenal maybe). If he stays in England, there’s no real reason we shouldn’t look at him if wages could be sorted. Many would have said the same about Welbeck 12 months ago, similar tier of player.

Roma are 5th, they’ve won 17 of 33 league games. Scored 61 goals and conceded 44. Will m

Watford are 17th, they’ve won 8 of 35 games. Scored 33 goals and conceded 54.

He’s played European football this year and probably will again next season.

We are MILES off from getting Smalling. He’s played over 300 times for United.

Welbeck hasn’t played that many games combined.

In fact, Welbeck hasn’t made 30 appearances in a single campaign or ever got double figures in a single Premier League campaign. He’s a complete fraud and Watford is totally his level.

If , sorry , when we stay up surely we have to pick off the quality at those relegated.
Mings, Ake, Wilson and several of the young Norwich players should be on our list.

John Swift signed by Sheffield United for £3.5M. One of Readings two best players this season. Meanwhile Filippo Giraldi Ahenobarbus twiddles his fat thumbs. Eric Roy meanwhile impersonates Claude Rains.

So one of the mainstays of Vallodolid's defence this season young Ghanaian Mohammed Salisu is off to Southampton for £11M. Just what we need in defence. Young, hungry and capable of developing even more with a sell on at some point. Terrific recruiting from fatty bumpkin and Roi Roy again. Rob Roy would be more use. Even though he has been dead for more than two hundred and thirty years. What a comedy duo these two are.

Yep, the project they put in place there under Hassenhuttl is starting to bear fruit.
Salisu, as I mentioned last week would have been a good target - but if others of our supposed level become interested, the structure of our club puts us at the back of the queue I think. All the more reason to adapt our way of working and bring in a coach as the head of a new 'project' - then in a couple of years, hopefully still in the PL, we may have higher hopes when linked with such players.

  28. lowerrous

I'm not sure how much the structure would have made a difference, though the rate at which we've been changing managers recently could make players sceptical.

The simple fact that even if we do stay up this season it'll be be by the skin of our teeth in 17th will encourage players to join pretty much any other PL club ahead of us if given the choice.

Not just that but we're also being squashed in the transfer market in the same way clubs in the Championship play offs are. Their two promoted rivals steal a march on them because they have PL status secured while the play off competitors don't know what league they'd be in.

We're not in a position to finalise any significant transfer business at the moment really.

Some decent players available on a free- transfer. This is the way we should go, get some solid experienced pros in , alongside our south American youngsters.
    Scott Dann, Ayala, Stephen Defour.
Maybe even get Iturbe in ;)

Wasn't entirely serious. Genuinely think Ayala is worth looking at though. He's proven at Championship level and still in his 20s. Also worth looking at Andre Mitryushkin, 24 year old Russian goaly, now out of contract. There's definitely players who are worth looking into. All depends on who stays, I guess.
