Robertson looked a decent left back when I saw him - was linked to Liverpool, but now linked to Burnley ???? Ex-Silva boy at Hull

 

I wrote Robertson off as a possibility because I assumed he was Liverpoool bound. If that's true and its Burnley who are trying we'd be silly not to join the competition. The price I've seen thrown around is 15 mil though, which I'm not sure we'd match

Assume wages will be astronomical but the fee isn't too bad - reports West Ham will start bidding at £10 million.

I think the pressure and expectation of Man United can make him look worse than he is. In my opinion if you ignore the press hounding of him and watch him play he's actually very very good sometimes.

I think it was first few months last season where he looked completely transformed as a player and was great.

 

Chris Smalling would be a great buy for us but I imagine the likes West Ham, Everton and Newcastle will be in for him and will throw silly money at him to sign him. The price tag, we can afford, the wages that those three will hand him, not a chance.

Ticks a lot of boxes and Squibba is right, everyone was drooling over him at one point for a few month. Would be excellent to see him at the heart of our defence. But as people have said wages could be the stumbling block

Maguire gone to Leicester for £17mil, no wonder we don't buy HG. We will get much better for that amount elsewhere.

 

I really like Smalling but agree with what others have said above. He'll have offers from bigger clubs than us.

If Phil Jones was available I think he'd be a more realistic option than Smalling as I can't see as many teams being interested.

 

Go for Ashley Young and get him to persuade Smalling to come and that young keeper Johnston, 3 hg slots filled with very decent squad players. So what if it costs a bit in wages, Harry Maguire is costing a reported 80k a week I'm sure we could persuade Manure to part with those 3 for 20m, it could make all the difference come end of season having reliable squad players

 

Patrick Roberts from Man City? Homegrown, has apparently been superb at Celtic for past 18 months but won't be going back. Maybe Man City could be persuaded to loan him to us....

Keep seeing Teodorczyk mentioned as player we should sign. He is a decent striker and certainly a better option than Okaka. I was under the impression that his loan from D.Kiev was being made permanent officially on 1st July but if he is available he would be a great buy for us.

 

I get the impression that players like Aguero and Yaya Toure will be sidelined at Man City as the Pep revolution continues.

Maybe we could make a bid for these players? I'm sure they would be interested. Current first teamers and international players from the top 5 times will definitely consider us IMO.

 

Some educated speculation about how our midfield squad will look season ....

Behrami probably leaving will probably mean Capoue stays and two new midfielders come in, one expensive the other a squad player. Hopefully Allan or Silva as a marquee CDM and someone like Hughes as squad player.

So a midfield 3 ( assuming we play a 433)....

I'd be happy with that midfield 3 with some decent back up.

Would be nice if could sell Capoue and bring in Lemina too.

 

I'd take Josh Harrop on a free (although we'd have to pay compensation) from United.

He was a cut above in the youth leagues, and could almost instantly be worth far more than his compensation fee. Homegrown too, of course.

 

Feel like there's no chance we'll get either of those midfielders. They're more like crystal palace than marquee.
