Unfortunately I do have to wear trousers to work. Other than going out in the evening my choice otherwise would be shorts 365 days a year.
I envy the Postman; living the dream. Shorts all year, finish your working day at lunch and then off down the pub for a drink.

    That's very unjust.
I think nurseries adopt the David Lloyd principle, that is to say they don't give a fig because they know there will always be a ready supply of customers to take your place.
The school I've just returned from was allowing parents to collect at 2.30pm and on the way back the 414 from Hertford to WGC was quite covered.
Sunday will be fun trying to remove the snow from the courts!
I shall pray for post football rain.

Lots of snow here on the Surrey/Sussex/Hampshire borders and more has been falling steadily since lunchtime. Had a go on a snow scooter for the first time today. Great fun & very fast - & yes, I fell off.
Dogs are absolutely loving it although younger one is very confused - can't decide whether to play with the snow or eat it so she does a mix of the two which basically involves her racing around "play bowing" at it, followed by a "head plunge" into it.

    1) The car is about two years old. The manufacturer has a 5 year warranty as the f-I-l bangs on about it all the time. The same manufacturer makes a lawn mower which has a 7-year warranty, I always mention this to him to wind him up!

It not the first car he’s brought from this dealership and I think probably feels he is their best customer and singlehandedly keeps the dealership making profit! He’s obviously doesn’t and loves to spend months searching around to negotiating the best price with this dealership.

The windscreen wiper issue has been an ongoing saga for 12-18 months.

    2) I think windscreen is original although this has been going on and off for a while and the dealership may have refitted it off r the sensor. I don’t always pay attention !

    3) not sure about the ice.

He is a stubborn, opinionated, self righteous and argumentative and as I say he just like to do battle with car dealers.

Today he told us that the guy who skidded into us yesterday probably jammed on the brakes hard. He should have pumped them apparently. Of course this is exactly the opposite of what the experts advise since most cars are fitted with ABS. I just let him think he knows it all and rage inside!

I’ll get him to contac5 you if you like?

Yep, our dog loves it. Always has done, I think it sends him a bit crazy. He runs around like a nutter and does the plough thing

Feel your pain. We have to pay during most holidays as well (except summer where you only pay 1 week worth of tuition), whether the kids attend or not, in order to “lock in” their spot. Nothing more soul destroying than paying for childcare AND being stuck with the kids at the same time when off work.

From the feline side;Ford is keen on speed skating and hurling himself around and then disappearing up the nearest tree.
Arthur, true to form, is much more measured and trots around quite contentedly in the rare occasions he ventures out.
Kit,the 3/4 time share cat,cat decide whether to stay in or go out and mews at the snow when he does the latter.
The foxes seem sanguine but the vixen is pregnant so is eating for Hertfordshire!

The snow has all gone here in tropical WGC,I won't even need to sweep the courts!
Ford and Arthur are out and about, bird bothering.
Kit fell off the work surface and on his way down clawed my leg and has drawn blood through my tracksuit bottoms.
In true Holebas v Huddesrfield form,I fell to the kitchen floor and writhed in agony. Kit,unimpressed, waited for me to get up and finish dishing up their food.
Dogs are brilliant, can we not have both?

Was a dog person for 40 odd years but for the last dozen years I have been forced to live with a cat who has completely won me over. From being someone who would chase cats out of my garden, I probably prefer cats now. Dogs are too straightforward, loving, devoted, predictable. All of those things are great but cats are less needy, more mischievous, and its just more complicated to get inside their heads. They are also 10 times smarter. You only need to spend 30 mins watching cat videos on youtube to see how much more entertaining they are. The only downside is the wildlife predation. Fortunately in a dozen years I've only had 2 birds killed whereas the sparrowhawks probably take one a week from our garden. If our cat was a true killer as some are, it would have been sent packing.

Dog people tend to be people who are not well respected/loved by humans, so have to turn to the animal kingdom for comfort.

Everyone who owns a cat should put a bell on the collar to help prevent wild bird killing. It's not a cure all but it helps.

    I have tried,I really have!
It is my considered belief that Ford Dante and Arthur Virgil used to remove the collar from each other. They must have had about 20 each in their six and a bit years.
Fortunately, despite MrIBB being convinced I feed the birds in order for the cats to catch them, they rarely do.
I have also become quite skilled at rescuing the few they do catch.
I have a box with holes in that I place them or more likely voles* in and release them when they have recovered sufficiently.
*Arthur is on vole patrol as I type.

    By the way.

All those who laughed with contempt when one railway employee many years ago mentioned that we'd had "the wrong sort of snow" and continue to trot it out at every single opportunity as a demonstration of the crazy things that the hopeless, any excuse railways will use, can now see clearly for their own stupid chortling loudmouth selves that there are indeed different sorts of snow.

The stuff we had this time was small, hard and powdery. It blew about in the wind and drifted up against walls etc like the snow you see when North Pole explorers are battling their way through a storm with their dog sleds.

It was clearly quite different from the big fluffy floaty snowflakes we usually get.

A friend of mine is currently stranded at Oslo airport trying to get to London.

It's somewhat ironic that her flight was cancelled not because of the meter or so of snowfall they've had in the Oslo area these past weeks but by the inch or so they had at Heathrow!

Horrific weather in Derby today, where they've had no choice but to call off their lunchtime match against 2nd placed Cardiff due to the snow.

Here's a picture near Pride Park:

As you can clearly see, there's some substantial snow on the back of that Nissan.

Of course this decision by Derby is absolutely nothing to do with them carrying a 10 man injury list and having Tom Huddlestone suspended. Their fans are ecstatic, especially given this game is must win if they want any chance of catching Cardiff for the auto promotion places.

Cardiff fans are fuming as they'd nearly all made it there, the team coach got there fine and the pitch is completely clear. I'm sure the EFL will do nothing, as usual.

Dashed cold tutoring at Legends today, not helped by the centre's policy of not turning the heating on in the indoor bubble.
