I always liked QSF, he gave us a trip to Wembley, kept us up comfortably and gave us a solid foundation to build on. We didn't really get thrashed under him if my memory serves me well. Granted it went a bit pear shaped at the end, but he still gave us a very good season. He would be totally out of place in Stoke though. 14th place in La liga, but one point off 8th, I think he'd be better off staying put.
Thing is that football fans, especially Watford fans in recent seasons, generally fall into two camps... Camp 1: Those who care about getting to the end destination successfully.... Camp 2: Those who want to enjoy the journey.... Some people will like QSF and forgive him his tactics because with the squad he had, if you said at the start of the season that we’d come 13th, be reasonably comfortable and get to an FA Cup Semi-Final, I think well over 90% of the fan base would have thought that was brilliant. BUT, over the course of the season, some of that 90% will drop out of camp 1 and move over to camp 2. We are probably seeing that again this season under Silva. I personally don’t enjoy our bad form but I always remind myself that we are 10th. Some will say it’s a false position given the closeness in points below us. But right now it’s a fact that we are 10th and I would happily take another 5 months like the previous 4 if it meant we stay 10th. Personally I think his achievements were brilliant that season and can forgive the over-reliance on some players and dull tactics because of the end result. The end result, whilst we are in the PL will always be most important to me.
I quite liked QSF and was sorry we got rid of him - but would I want him back if Silva went - no, I don't think so.
Wish him nothing but the best if he goes to Stoke, done a great job here and hope he gets a good reception if he ever comes back with another side.
All Quique had was a purple patch Ighalo. He did a pretty poor job with us in honestly and I don't know why Stoke fans would be excited about appointing him. We didnt play well as a team and when Ighalo stopped firing it was blatantly obvious. If he stayed another season in adamant we'd have been relegated. Think he will take them down to the Championship.
I liked him but from end of Jan onwards it got more and more painful to watch (cup run aside). Arsenal away in the cup was magic though.
Espanyol have scored 15 goals in La Liga, the team with the lowest have 13. Espanyol have conceded 21 goals in La Liga, the team with the lowest goals scored have conceded 32. It's how QSF keeps teams up, it's effective but it's ******* boring and painful. Watching Jurado week in week out was insufferable. A Spanish Pulis.
Just waiting on that call from Gino. "Please stiffen up our defence and help us scrape through to the end of the season"
Apparently the issue was some relegation clause in his contract which would have meant taking a big pay cut if Stoke went down. As if Flores would have stuck around anyway....
