I want Ivic just because his name ends in "vic" like Jokanovic, which would obviously bode well for us.

Should buy a Swiss-Albanian midfielder as well, usually a good sign for us

If it is Ivic, we have to get rid of the accent filter, how tinpot is a forum where you can't even type the bloke's name properly?

It does looks like it will be Ivic. His odds have shortened. Now 11/8 and 8/5 with a couple of bookies. Quite short odds, but not odd-on just yet.

I know a lot of fans will be happy, but I think it would be a huge risk appointing someone like him. He'll either be brilliant, or utter dog's droppings. I just don't really trust the judgement of the board anymore.

His first quote will be....."he's the best manager we've had since I've been here."

If he is useless he can be sacked by Halloween, if brilliant and gets us promoted, could still be sacked in May. Ultimately the difference between success or failure could be a 7 month gig.

Realistically how many of us had heard of Aidy Boothroyd or Jokanovic, and they got us promoted. QSF, Mazzarri, Javier Garcia all a mystery to me. I had never heard of Brendan Rogers and he did a good job until he walked out.

You have to trust that the owner has an interest in getting this one right

I thought Gotti had signed a contract with Udinese?
Can't see Hughton getting it after being interviewed before.
Cook just seems to of been thrown into the mix because he's out of contract.
The other two have at least been reported about.

“Watford remain in the hunt for a new manager to lead them into the Championship next season”

No, that was last season and we successfully achieved that goal via the appointment of four different managers.

All he has to do is pick 11 blokes, put them on the football field and then wave at them to either move upfield or compress play. Can’t be so hard.

Well simply because only the owner is going to make the appointment, we won’t. Nor will the appointment go out to a public vote or be decided by a panel of other experts. So you have to trust that the owners investment to date and potential income and future gain is enough of an incentive to make the best appointment.

Getting it wrong last year will not mean they will get it right this time. Neither does it mean they will get it wrong again.

They are more experienced football owners than the majority of people who buy clubs. We have to trust/hope/assume they are motivated by a desire to make the club successful.

    Good appointment for Villa.

Dare I say it also lends credence to the rumours as to why Pearson's contract was terminated with us? From a purely footballing perspective, Pearson surely did enough to make him an attractive proposition for another managerial appointment somewhere else soonish. However, Shakespeare linking up with Villa could suggest that something happened which makes him think he won't be needed as a number 2 again to Pearson any time soon.

One of the weirdest experiences of my life was visiting a mate in his home town of Wigan in'94(?). I saw 'Wigan Pier' (it had a wine bar called Orwells's on it), I visited Uncle Joe's Mint Ball Factory¸ I attended my one and only Rugby league match and I saw the 'Tics' ("Spoooooooooooooon!!!!!!!!!") play at home. Around 1% of the home crowd were wearing Tics' colours, one third were in Liverpool tops, another in Man City tops and the other 33% in Man Utd...

I can’t believe Bournemouth have given it to Tindall, but I’m delighted that they have.

Number twos that step up almost always fail.

Does it mean Howe really did leave “by mutual consent”? If he wasn’t sacked it seems odd to give the job to his assistant which is likely to mean not much changes.

Wigan Althletic AKA The Latics AKA The Tics.

Wigan is, now, in Greater Manchester. It used to be in Lancashire. To show how much they mourn their loss, an awful lot of football fans in Wigan (then) used to support the 'Pool to emphasise this and WAFC were really, really poor at the time (I think they had just got elected to the league?).

I suppose the difference is our assistants, in the case of Dyche, and Malky at least, became manager when replacing somebody who’d been poached by a more successful club, whereas Tindall was front and center while their season fell apart.
