Agreed. We've normally both appointed and removed in this sort of timeframe.

No manager, no signings, no kit. We may as well just be liquidated.

They always say that. From Burnsy's information it looks likely he will be interviewed next week. If he has an issue with family in Austria then it makes no sense for him to continue at Barnsley because he will face the same issues travelling between the two countries. I hope so anyway. Come to Watford.

I don't know what he thinks he can do at Barnsley with all due respect to them. Good academy, community club, well run and grounded fans. Surely he knows we are the better bet once fatty is removed which it looks like he will be. Come to Watford Gerhard.

It says no club have approached Barnsley, but it does mention that Watford have approached Struber already.

It also mentions that Barnsley players are back in training from Monday, but that Struber is only "due to take training at Oakwell late next week", funnily enough after the calls with us might have been had on Tuesday and Wednesday (i.e still. in time for him to be able to leave before he's scheduled to link up again).

Perhaps we have been ? We'd be the last to know as the club would be the last to announce it.

Not doubting Burnsy's information but Leventhal has said a series of interviews is unlikely and the club will instead make an unanimous decision together, before finalising a contract with the chosen person.

Cannot see Struber happening personally, as much as I'd like it to. Ivic is a very solid option as well however.

Some good research by ‘lowerrous’’. “Grass is Green” is the sports management company of Thomas Boehm, Struber’s adviser.

I am not sure whether Matt Rose would join Struber if he were to be appointed as head coach at Watford, although it is not impossible because Rose’s family live in London.

“Gerhard Struber's first team coaches Max Sent and Matt Rose have left Oakwell with their contracts expiring tomorrow.
Both departures are due to family commitments, with former professional poker player Senft’s family in Austria and ex QPR defender Rose’s in London.
Rose’s role had been reduced in recent months and he was not in the dugout for games after lockdown, unlike Senft who is set to become head coach of Austrian fourth division club SC Pinkafeld.“ (Barnsley Chronicle, 30 July)

Craig Shakespeare has been appointed assistant manager at Villa.

I wonder what that means for John Terry!

I thought Leventhal was as much in the know now as ITKJim. Out of the loop regarding the managerial appointment. I still hope it is Struber. I am becoming fixated. :D

It’s not a series of interviews that are lined up as far as I know/am told. Only one video conference is confirmed for Tuesday.

My personal outlook (I don’t know this for sure) is that a meeting will be held on Tuesday between ourselves and his representatives (and likely him). We will likely then give him overnight to consider any offer and the second provisional meeting will be to conclude any deal. No acceptance, then no second meeting. The other provisional meetings, I would assume they would be be for other candidates outside of the first choice should they be needed.

I would suggest that we wouldn’t be meeting any prospective Head Coach without knowing in advance that it’s likely they would accept the role.

What I don’t know, because I don’t know the way these things work, is at which point would we need to alert a club that we intend to pay a release fee for their manager. I imagine we would have to let the current club know that we will pay it if talks are successful. Sending a pre-agreement of payment or something...

Has been linked with Bournemouth and a coaching role at Chelsea, who appear to be trying to put together a whole new back 4.

Although the chief sports writer at the local B’ham rag insists Terry is staying, and Shakespeare is just an addition. They wanted him before Pearson brought him to us apparently.

It’s irrational, but I don’t care who the manager is, as long as they appoint Eustace to work alongside.

We need that titan of a man in our club again, with his lovely facial hair. He’s all we need to right the wrongs of the last few years.
