    Another World title for him.

Britian's greatest athlete or a potential drug cheat who hasn't been caught?

There is a lot of divided opinion on him...

Where do you stand (or run..)

  2. where do I stand?

    Strinic > Mo Farah

    Who on earth is divided?

I do not know a single person who does not realise he is clearly an incredible athlete, who we are lucky to have.

You are right - the majority who follow athletics see him as a true great but there are some out there who question certain things.

I don't think it is fair to accuse him of cheating without at least a bit of evidence (other than the fact that no one else can beat him).

His father is a British citizen, was born in Britain, met his mother on holiday in Somaliland (a British Protectorate) and Mo came over here when he was 7 years old, 27 years ago, and himself sees himself as British.

Only people who continually want to knock British success want to think he is foreign.

I understand your sentiment and find it hard to enjoy any track and field because of contamination.

    However innocent until proved guilty.

    Fantastic race.

Didn't he miss a couple of drug tests a la Rio Ferdinand?

Not that I particularly care, the ability to put one foot in front of the other for what can only be described as a lifetime around a track...is of no paricular interest to me.

It is a shame he holds no world records but in truth it doesn't matter at all. His tactics are designed to win races, not break world records and a gold medal round your neck looks a lot nicer than a quick time on a piece of paper. If Mo attempted to break one I think you'd find he wouldn't win the race. This is why the rest of the field try to pace him out of the race early on. Mo needs to reserve just enough to beat everyone with his sprint finish. He's never won a race by more than 0.6secs which just goes to show how close it gets, yet he's never lost (since the silver in 2011). Best ever? Without a doubt. His tactics are world class.

On a side note, this guy is not a drug cheat. He is one of a very small field of people, who's bodies defy belief. Yes he's unnatural in what he can do but he has the ability and he's dedicated his life to perfect it. To put things in to perspective, I run a decent standard on the track and my quickest 5k is 16:49. Yesterday Mo ran 3 minutes quicker over the first half of a 10k race and the quickest single lap was as fast as I can run a lap in an 800m race. Quite frankly it's disgusting, the guy is a machine. But he's a fantastic role model and we're lucky to have him.

    In short, I love Mo.

That does not make him British the same way kevin pieterson was never english. Im not knocking "British Success". He is not British to knock

So would you call my sister, who was born in Germany and lived her first few years over there because our British father was working over there, a German? Do you disagree with her that, even though she thinks of herself as British and lived over here most of her life, she shouldn't be allowed to call herself British?

Please explain your logic behind your thinking.

If it isn't of any particular interest to you, then what made you post?

What are you on about you bigot?

Someone who's not "British" in your eyes, can probably still spell and punctuate better than you.

How many gold medals have you won for our country? None.

Because Ferdinand missed a couple of drug tests and got banned for 8 months. Farah misses a couple and he's playing the victim and no one can ask him the question.

    That's why I posted.

Now clean the sand out of your @rse and you won't be so irritable.

Good grief IAAF/Coe this tarnishes a major event.

Not sure how they solve the problem but I do hope Bolt is clean.

I think it's far too easy these days to represent a country you wasnt born in.
Just look at cricket and particularly rugby.. "not good enough to play for the All Blacks? Dont worry come play for Wales/Scotland/England!"

But i think we can all see where this is done to better someones chances of representing "their" country.. and we can also see where that's not the case. Personally i would scrap the Grandparent rule and introduce a where have you lived most your life rule.

When I cycle to work along the canal path I do about 13 miles and average roughly 13-14 mph. I arrive at the office a sweaty mess. Mo Farah averages that speed on foot doing the 10K. He's an absolute beast.

I feel there's an utter stench surrounding Jamaican sprinting as a whole. No off season testing as far as I know, so they can juice up all winter, leave enough time to cloak and clean and then compete with 5lb of extra muscle.

There's no way there isn't a Russian level of endemic doping in their sport.

I watched some of the documentary about Bolt. His training is so rudimentary and he's such a reluctant trainer that I just don't buy him.

Sure he's got genetics on his side, but it's impossible to compete in any sport at that level and be consistently not only the best of your age, but comfortably the best ever, by pootling around a dusty track in Kingston towing a tyre.

Jamaica has depth across all sprinting disciplines including 400 and hurdles for men and women. Of course the West African heritage of their population would help, but how are they so far ahead of the US for example, with their population advantage and cash through the sport. Gatlin shouldnt be competing, but he's been caught, many of his rivals are just getting away with it.

Will be interesting to see how he does when he steps up to Marathons. I know he's tried before with no great success (For his standards anyway). After the performance of Callum Hawkins he may struggle to be British Number 1.

My understanding is the drug testing in marathons is less rigorous than in other athletics events so I expect he'll do really well.
