I'm not saying don't sign another striker, we could even sign Batshuayi if the price is right, but lets not pretend someone who has tapped in a few assists from Eden Hazard against CFR Cluj is going to be a "phenomenal" signing who single handedly keeps us up

 

Grey gets derided for only scoring tap ins, and then again for missing tap ins when he is presented to him. Is it somehow harder to score our tap ins because Eden Hazard didn’t create them?

Which strikers do you think get more chances to score, the ones supported by Hazard, Fabregas and Pedro, or the ones supported by Cleverley, Carillo and Richarlison?

Stick Grey or Deeney up front for Chelsea and they'd be comfortably on double figures already, that doesn't mean you can drop the same player into the Watford team and assume they would be "phenomenal" for us

 

Jermaine Defoe scored quite a few for Sunderland last year - you need more than goals to stay up. Not putting us in their bracket but it’s a relevant point given your comment about him alone keeping us up.

If you're stating that Gray or Deeney would 'comfortably' be on double figures at Chelsea right now, then you are most likely to be missing the point.

How easy do you think it is to score PL goals? Morata has only scored 10, do you really think our lads are better finishers? Do you think that he wouldn't do well here?

You do have more talented players at other clubs. Whilst that can get you easy assists, it also means that you can get fewer shots (as they go for goal themselves), get less space (as top clubs sit deeper) and that you get fewer chances if you're not on form (they're less patient if your performance drops).

There are players who are made to look better than they are by being surrounded by top players, but a far greater number shine at lower level clubs and cannot handle the step up.

 

Has Gray missed an actual tap in? Not saying he hasn't, just don't remember one.
