Yes, totally. And if you see my responses, you’ll see that there is an element in them where I freely admit I don’t know what the correct method of screening passengers is. I’m not totally condemning the way it is done currently and not working in intelligence, I can’t say if it heavy handed in relation to the threat faced. Controversially maybe racial profiling is the way it has to be right now. I’m just sceptical where people claim it isn’t happening. Whether you are Asian and going through Heathrow or JFK or whether you are Caucasian and going through Beijing or Manila - or anywhere your race makes you a minority, it happens. I just think it’s dangerous for anyone to tell someone of a different race who has been subjected to this treatment when totally innocent how they should feel about it.

Of course I think people should be allowed opinion on the matter and be allowed to express whatever their view may be. But surely telling people how they should feel isn’t the way to go about that?

If you can totally accept profiling against whites in my scenario, why can you not hope that other races would do the same?

As I have said many times before. I think their anger (total and absolute) should be aimed at those giving their race, or group, a bad name through terrorist activities against innocent people, rather than directing it at those who are trying to protect innocent people.

Think of it from the extreme Islamic terrorist point of view as he is trying to attract more "soldiers" to fight their cause. What is more likely to reduce their recruitment, total condemnation from their enemies westerners and non-believers, or total condemnation from their other Muslims, their hunting ground for recruits?

It is my opinion, and I am happy to express it, as I think it is as equally valid as yours, or anyone else's.

Oh dear, we are experiencing "intense" terrorist activity in UK.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41655488

Twenty specific extreme Islamist terrorist attacks prevented in 4 years. He says there are another 3,000 extremists identified as being actively involved in terrorist activity (in some way) in the UK.

Oh dear, that looks like discrimination, we had better pull our fingers out and start preventing the 50m odd potential white terrorists from entering hotels in the UK, to balance things up!

(Sarcasm intended) ...and I am not proud of it, but I'm just fed up with the hand-wringing from the PC crowd and the rest.

Travelled through Gatwick for the umpteenth time this year a couple of weeks ago and had to go into the booth where you put your hands up and get scanned for the third time in a row. If I had reason to I might suspect iI was being "targetted" but, as a white, middle aged man, I knew it couldn't be any profiling based selection.

I asked the security guy why I was selected. He said it was purely random. The scanner that you walk through will light up if you are carrying metal but will also make random selections.

I think this approach, coupled with profiling and intelligence led selections, is very sensible. The process is very quick and unintrusive.

If I were of the "wrong" colour, ethnicity or religion and got regularly selected for an internal I would be more annoyed I'm sure. But the high tech security that is the "first level" that most will only ever face is not a big deal and perfectly reasonable.
