Another season. Another round of hype, ridiculous transfers, outlandish kits, some spectators and as usual managers getting the boot.

Please put all managerial sackings into this thread rather than creating single threads when one of the head honchos is sacked or forced to resign or just gives up.

We can safely give it two weeks into the season before it starts.

Tranmere looking for a new manager, with Nigel Adkins favourite. Is it too early to add him to the list along with Pardew, Pulis etc who will always be linked with jobs no matter what?

I've always thought Adkins was very harshly treated by Southampton when he was quickly dumped in favour of Pochettino, despite getting the Saints up from League One to the Premier League. Before that he had got Scunthorpe promoted twice into the Championship, so his managerial credentials were proven. After Southampton I think he made some poor choices of club in Reading and Hull, who were both on the slide, and Sheffield United who were a big club down in League One. Unfortunately his time as a higher level manager has passed now, but I hope he has some success at Tranmere if he takes that job.

Lampard departs Chelsea with the best wishes of the owner. Decisive action according to the sports media. When we do it however it is madness. Typical double standards.

That's because Watford losing is part of the plan, but Chelsea losing isn't.

Lampard seemed to do far better when he had limited resources at his disposal, both at Derby and last season at Chelski when they were under a transfer ban. This season he's struggled to get the best out of their expensive new signings, but probably felt obliged to play them.

I wonder how much he pushed for those signings considering he's stuck Werner out wide (when he's much better as a striker) and the fact that Havertz is an attacking midfielder/second striker when Lampard doesn't really use one.

It always seems odd when a ‘legend’ like Lampard becomes manager at his club, especially early in his career. He’s highly unlikely to be there for 20 years and so is going to be sacked after a bit. So what is his career path in his head? Anything else will seem like a step down, given that he won’t be offered another top 6 job.

    So will Lampard:
    a) go back to the level he started at and take on something like Sheffield Wednesday?
    b) be happy fight relegation at a lower level PL team like Fulham or perhaps at best Newcastle?
    c) look abroad for a Real Sociedad-type level club?
    d) take on Stevie G at Celtic?
    e) take the money for a bit in China? or
    f) retire to Sky Sports?

Seen a lot of sympathy for Lampard tbf...too much too soon for him after just 1 year in management, how would we feel if our former top scorer managed us despite a lack of experie...oh wait :D

    d) isn’t a bad shout, IMO.

In fairness, he had some insane quality loans for the Championship at Derby. The new signings do have a bit of a square peg and round hole feel, though that doesn't explain the fact that their defence only conceded 10 less than our shoddy lot last season...

In fairness, it is madness when we do it.

We can support Watford but accept that our method of hiring and firing coaches is damaging and madness.

I have no opinion on what chelsea do because I couldn't give a damn either way.

Keith Curle and assistant Colin West have left the Cobblers. Colin of course being one of our own back in the day. The pair took the Cobblers up to League One via the playoffs.

Paul Tisdale left Bristol Rovers the other set too - didn’t seem to be there that long .

Both Bristols are unhappy. More so with City given the investment they have had.

Really underperformed I guess - particularly City.

Teams like that probably get a bit jealous of us at least having a spell in the Premier league.

What's the odds on Klipperty Klopp? Owners must be getting a bit peeved at the moment. Terrible run of results.

As much as I'd love to see Liverpool sack him, his job is safe unless the big names force him out.

Wilder sacked apparently, surprised at that considering they’re already down.

He should have been sacked earlier in the season if they were to stand a chance.

I presume he have had a falling out or wasn’t given the support he wanted to get them back up.

There have been reports of boardroom disputes in the past between former and current owners.

It’s slightly similar to the Bournemouth situation, on the face of it it’s odd seeing as they’re already down, yet he’d be the best person to get them up again seeing as he got them up from league one. But he’s terrible in the transfer market (a lot like Saint Eddie) and the owner wants a DOF to take more control of transfers, which neither Saint Eddie or Wilder wanted.

Having spent the thick end of £70m on McBurnie, Ramsdale and Brewster you can see why they want someone in to improve their transfer spending.

That is true but seeing as they are going down he might have been the best fit to take Sheffield U back up.

Probably been bubbling to this for months and now they have snapped.
