Soccerway and my Futmob app both say he's starting for Morocco in ACON tonight...I thought he pulled out due to injury?
Yea the BEEB got it wrong too. I think the guy that took over his shirt number is playing. That's the sort of thing that could easily confuse a stupid person.
Should he return from injury way before the end of Afcon, could Morocco block him from playing? As he was called up for the tournament I'm not sure how this stands? I see Matip isn't playing for Liverpool as they aren't sure where they stand after he was called up despite not attending as he states he has retired from international football?
He travelled to the Morocco training camp, so answered his call up, and their team doctor stood him down. He was replaced in their squad. So I'd think he can play as soon as he is fit.
Exactly. He wasn't included in the Morocco squad because they, not us, deemed him unfit. I can't see why he can't play as soon as he's fit again, whenever that is. physioroom.com currently have the return date as 31st Jan.
Thanks for the clarification, last I could find was that he had been called up for the final 23 man squad, couldn't see anything saying that he had been replaced, bonus if he ifs fit before the Afcon ends then!
Yes but only on alternate months. The other months he has to live in an airport terminal like Tom Hanks.
Usually, it's also the only one I've seen currently giving any sort of date for Nordin. I suspect around about the end of the month is probably right.
... Amrabat takes the ball down cleanly takes one touch and whips the ball into the danger area. It skims off of the top of a defender's head into the path of the on rushing SUCCESS. I remember at the time the blokes on Sky just said he was being a wuss and feeling sorry for himself... What do they know!
Yep, that was particularly unjust. I've never heard that condemnation for an obviously injured player before. "He's decided to take himself off" they said, voice dripping with sarcasm. They made it appear as though he wasn't really injured, but had just had enough of playing for today and didn't fancy carrying on. I suppose it must be part of this 'weak-kneed foreign wimp' thing some commentators have. A good stout, ruddy-faced, British yeoman would have played on through that.
Now back in full training by the sound of it http://www.hertfordshiremercury.co.uk/watford-s-nordin-amrabat-returns-to-first-team-training-ahead-of-crystal-palace-tie/story-30189883-detail/story.html
IMHO he has looked woeful on his return and I am not sure if he is truly fit. Even giving him the benefit of the doubt on his match fitness, I think his overall contribution in just over a season does not warrant a long term future with us. The only thing I can say in his favour on the last few games is he always looks thoroughly dejected when substituted.
A good solid squad option. I don't think he's good enough to ever be a first XI pick at this level and we should be looking to find a better alternative to play right wing next season.
He was player of the season before his injury. Looks very rusty in terms of his influence since he's been back, looks shot on confidence too, trying too hard to roll people and giving away fouls. He's an exceptional player and he will get it back, give it time. Those saying he's not good enough to start at this level are delusional.
So how do you explain no assists or goals this season? Good to have as outball but woeful end product.
