So me and my brother had 6 tickets for a gig, that was cancelled. I bought 4, he bought 2. They rescheduled and gave all ticket holders a code to buy again. I was away with no Internet access when this happened and would have missed getting the tickets, so my brother used my code to get my 2 tickets and he got the other four. Unfortunately it's all under his name, and the policy states: Please note This event is for fans only and the following terms and conditions are in place to ensure that tickets are not resold. The full name of the lead booker will be printed on each ticket and photo ID of the lead booker must be presented to gain entry into the venue. The name cannot be changed once the booking has been made. If you are booking more than one ticket your guests must enter the venue at the same time as you. Failure to do so will result in guests being turned away. Tickets cannot be resold or transferred under any circumstances. If the promoter reasonably believes this to be the case the barcode on the ticket will be voided, prohibiting entry to the concert. A strict 4 per person ticket limit applies. Under 15s must be accompanied by an adult 18+. Any one come across this before? Am I not getting in? I don't look too much like my brother, so probably couldn't use his ID.
Oh right I see. Well if they've sold them to you they're clearly not that strict? I guess your options are to either contact the vendor and ask their advice or just go along and see what happens.
The minimum wage kid who checks your ticket at the venue probably won't even know about the 6 ticket rule, let alone care enough to try and enforce it. I doubt the names on the tickets will even be checked at all. I went to a gig at the weekend where the name was supposed to be checked and it wasn't (o2 Greenwich)
I tell you what, everywhere's ID now isn't it? Everyone wants to take down your credentials. The days of them being satisfied with a 6 month old creased up page of a gas bill seem to have gone with the devil. It's very nosy of them really.
Had this when I went to see Kraftwerk in June. Took ID, but no one checked. We did only have the maximum 4 tickets, though.
So you're happy that people can buy multiple tickets and make a profit out of the poor saps that buy them then? I thought you were anti capitalist? Or do you have a better idea for stopping touts? @ForzaWatford The fact you're with the chap that booked the tickets and they sold the tickets should be fine. Any stops (if at all) will be for people obviously not with the booker.
i went to see Brian Wilson at radio city hall last week. When I purchased the tickets, they only had a few left, high up in the Gods. When me and my wife arrived at the venue, we were given a free upgrade to seats second row from the front. Result
The ticket companies themselves are the biggest touts of the lot with their "official resale" sites where tickets are sold at way above face value. The ID thing is extremely annoying - it means you can't buy someone tickets as a gift unless you are going with them, you can't meet friends inside the venue if you booked their tickets, and you can't give your tickets to a friend if you can't attend. I'm sure there's a more practical solution, starting with banning the resale sites.
You can do all of those things though, a bank card is suffient ID, if they even bother asking at all. So you can just lend your friend one of those. All it means is you cant tout your ticket to a stranger.
It'll be fine if you go with your brother. The 4 per person is to stop touting. If they check (which I doubt they will, considering it would make queues into the club ridiculous), explain the situation. Having the same surname and having your brother to corroborate your story will serve as adequate proof.
Same with me. Looks like sometimes it is strictly enforced though. I always thought a bank card would be sufficient. I still think it would be if you kicked up a fuss. As it says on that website: "Some fans were eventually allowed to enter the O2 after voicing their complaints to staff." http://teamrock.com/news/2017-09-20/foo-fighters-fans-left-out-in-the-cold-after-ticket-confusion Foo fighters fans deserve to be shat on though, for having such dire taste.
Correct! We rang them, they said as we let them know prior to the event it should be fine, or they will cancel the tickets and refund us.
