    RIP Jim Bowen.

As a regular darts player I'll be throwing some arrows in his honour tomorrow.

I must admit to thinking he'd died a while ago.

Reading a piece on the BBC site it recalled how Jim, a former head teacher, decided to go into comedy.

Bowen started out as a teacher but was inspired to take up comedy after watching Ken Dodd perform two shows - lasting a total of seven hours - one night in Blackpool. "I watched seven hours of Ken Dodd and I watched him completely decimate 7,000 people. He left them in ruins with laughter," he told Radio Lancashire last year. "And I thought, that's some feeling that he must get after that. And so I learned his act."

Two days after his comedy inspiration dies he decides to follow Mr Dodd once more.

This got me to thinking about links between people dying and their heroes/inspirations as it was pointed out by Smudger that Stephen Hawking died on Albert Einstein's birthday and both were 76 years of age - heaven help Hollywood and the film/TV industry when Kevin Bacon snuffs it!!

Don't worry. If he contracts an illness I'm sure he will be cured.

*posted with all due respect to JB and his love of comedy, smashing.
