Good kid. He did turn down Barcelona because he thought it'd be bad for his development. We need to keep him and he's guaranteed to play. Would almost be a coup to retain him.
If he's the sort of player who's happy to play for a club like Watford then I don't want him at Watford.
Just when I thought we’d finally got away from the anti-football of Burnley, you have reminded me of the time wasting experts and footballing antithesis that are Stoke.
Great attitude - It sounds like we can convince him to stay for a year. We should look to sell players like Doucoure, Pereyra, Deeney and the left back bloke and keep Sarr.
Only thing though - He's spoken really highly of Troy Matthew Deeney - And probably likes having French speakers around him such as Mr PSG. Take that away will he be happy?
Very refreshing to read that . Shame we need the £40 m but if no ones prepared to pay it he will be a real asset in the championship with his pace , quality and attitude .
I would say he is the most exciting player I have seen playing for us since John Barnes! He potential is huge!
At the moment, Watford remain determined to reject any offers for Ismaila Sarr. @JBurtTelegraph Good to read. Hope it's true.
If Sarr does stay and helps lead us to promotion, he'd basically start a new category of legend that we haven't had before. Money always wins though.
Does anybody see anyone coughing up £50m? Liverpool obviously have greater funds than most teams, but won't reach that far, everyone else that seems to be interested I doubt will spend that much
Who do you think is going to pay the transfer fee though? We are hardly going to just sell Sarr for the sake of selling him well below our evaluation.
Liverpool will try and unsettle him. That’s almost a given I’d say. But they won’t come close to offering what we want. The initial VVD saga and Jamal Lewis more recently shows their preferred method of operating. They know full well that Sarr would love to play for a club of their stature and with his pal Mané. They will use that to bid low and try and unsettle. As I said the other day, I think they will offer something like £25m, hope it upsets the player enough to draw us to the table to negotiate some sort of lower priced deal. The player may get privately upset. But I don’t see it working in Liverpool’s favour if that’s the tactic they choose. But no way do I see them just coming along and offering full asking price. It’s not in their nature, and there are conditions they can exploit instead.
Loads of clubs can afford £50m. Everton forked out almost that much for Richarlison without hesitation.
If we take everything that’s been said at face value he isn’t going anywhere for less than £40m, maybe even £50m. I’m struggling to see who is going to pay that, and even if Liverpool do offer £25m for him to try and unsettle him, Sarr doesn’t strike me as being too brain dead to realise why we’re unlikely to want to sell him at a loss, however much he might want us to.
Ok so we will need to raise bucket loads of cash another way then if he stays ? Add Hughes to the "sell" list ?
