Deeney, unlike those inside Vicarage Road, could see what was going to happen when he set off in the 33rd minute of Watford’s defeat to Huddersfield Town on December 16.

Does nobody proof read their work any more?

The usual poorly written piece of fluff that we've come to expect. Thanks for sharing Tom.

Got a feeling that the extended rest might do him some good as he might not have been over his injury. We do need to play 2 strikers though. We don't have the support for one up top imho.

    > If the baseball scouting principle of ‘looking like a player’ were to be applied to Okaka then the former Fulham and Roma man would never have turned pro. Despite standing at just 6ft 1in the four-cap Italian international is ungainly yet has an frame justice.

Think you might want to go over that sentence, mate, I'm not sure what the typo is supposed to be.

If the comments by Silva in the WO are anything to go by Deeney is still consider very much part of the first team...

I am not sure Marco will want Troy to go - the club might have other ideas.

You have no class. Why do you feel the need to criticise someone who is trying? At least he's doing something with his life.

    http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/15805563.FA_reasons_for_opposing_Deeney_appeal_revealed/

Referring to the reasons given by the review board, I think the rules are applied for some and ignored for others.

"He could have played the ball fairly but chose to tackle the player, who was unaware of his position in an overly aggressive malicious manner. "

I believe the explanation given is extreme and does not fit the tackle committed.

Anyone that saw the Deli Ali and Harry Kane tackles on the same day in their match, and did not get retrospective reviews, can testify.

I'm watching the Liverpool v Everton match currently and in this Rooney ran at full speed at an opponent and actually caught him. This looked a far worse challenge then anything Deeney did but Bobby Madley just gave a yellow card.

Later on Holgate pushed Firmino over the advertising boards, which have caused an injury, and this time not even a yellow card is shown. This was far more fitting of the description "overly aggressive and malicious".

I believe double standards are being applied. Deeney is regarded as a thug, playing for a small team so the book can be thrown at him. The other players are playing for big clubs or are big stars so extra care is taken before big decisions are applied.

Deeney has been let down by Michael Oliver and the FA review board. I believe Oliver was seething over missing the gouge incident against Stoke, which made him look foolish. There is every chance he's carried this over to the next match and if he had any opportunity to send off Deeney, he would act on it. The saddest part is the FA have gone out of their way to back his decision.

If this was seen as malicious then every challenge of this nature HAS to be dealt with in the exact same way, but it's not. There are plenty of examples where players of other clubs do far worse but get away with it scot free.

Deeney has suffered because his fairly innocuous challenge cost him 4 matches, which is also an extreme punishment.

Wasn't the extra match due to the red card before though ?

Cannot remember if Troy was booked in that Stoke incident for pushing Shawcross...sometimes players seem to get away with it because the ref sees it as such the Kane/Ali tackles.

Rooney was certainly lucky not to be sent off but then if the laws were applied fully he'd be red carded due to dissent most weeks!

Like most people in football and life refs can be inconsistent but I do agree it does seem to depend on who the ref is at that moment - all a bit of a lottery.

They even say in rugby for example teams adapt to how different officials run the game..

Maybe managers and players will need to do that in football .

Yes...Deeney was booked for the incident, which 99% of the time means it is not reviewed.....of course they make an exception for him.

It seems if Watford make any small indiscretion they are punished heavily, while others tend to do far more before anything is done. This seems to be consistent.

People have also justified Zeegelaar's red card, but it was one of those things if it's not given as red no one would have said anything about it. It seems when a referee gives a decision, it's defended no matter what, unless it is 100% wrong. That's the Dermot Gallagher school of thought.

True. You've got to admire someone who's set out to type blogs with their balls, whatever the outcome.

Why didn't Tom Bodell just buy the rights to the WD Sport name? Would have been a huge credibility boost.

    Perhaps @Gavin Effleck wouldn't sell.

He was booked for shoving Shawcross. The ref missed him trying to rip Allen’s head from it’s stalk hence he was punished retrospectively.

Yes, that's what I suppose he said, but the point is yellow cards rarely get reviewed. It's the first time I'm aware it's actually occurred.

I expect Troy will be looking fwd to the prospect of scoring the winning goal in the final at Wembley (penalty) and lifting the trophy, as a fitting end to his time here.

Nothing wrong with this sentence. It says what I want. He set off to wallop the guy and he did just that.

Having worked for Kevin on WD Sport, there wasn't the option. But I appreciate the advice nonetheless.

Good spot. Believe it or not, the person who proof-read the article actually wrote that error in. But not good from us either way.

Can I ask what you take exception to?

Thanks. See above re. proofing :( Several people have made me aware of this by now. It was suggested when I signed up to the Official Site forum way back when and it rejected my initial username request. Clearly someone (or thing) was having a laugh at my request.

Re point 1, was Deeney not himself inside the Vic Rd stadium?

    ‘When Deeney set off’?

    Whence did Troy ‘set off’?

It just a fuzz of words.

Many of the posts on here are written with more care & insight.

The lazy proof-reading, the dull prose and the lack of originality.

You've decided to write an article on a topic we've been discussing to death for months. Then you come on here posting your link like you've solved the riddles of the universe.

Are you going to plagiarise the whole forum for us? Do you have any thoughts of your own on this matter? Or do you, is that your thing, you come onto a forum, you read some posts, and then pretend, you pawn it off as your own, as your own idea just to fill some space on a website and impress some girls ?

Trouble is, you’ve chosen a boring subject. Football is already done to death. It’s on the radio, TV, there’s forums full of it. People chat about it at work, even people who usually have no interest in the sport have strong opinions and it’s just not an interesting subject. I tend to walk away when people start discussing football.

Yes, I decided to write an article on a topic we have been discussing for month because I am a Watford fan and, when work allows, match goer. So these aren't plagiarised thoughts, they are my own original thoughts from attending games, backed up with research I have done. Some people will agree, some will disagree and some will be downright rude. But I am big enough, ugly enough and have been doing this long enough to take it on the chin and explain my point of view.

Lazy proof-reading – fair cop. But as I said above, someone has proof-read it for me and failed to spot the errors. So hands up from both of us on that, it shouldn't happen.

The rest of your nonsense is just that.
