Hi, Admin here. Been a hornet since my schooldays. I'd love to tell you my first match but I can't remember who we played, however we won 1-0. Living in North West London the lure of Arsenal, Chelsea and even QPR was starting to take a hold but a friend persauded me to join him in a trip to Vicarage Road. I've never looked back. Best game has to be the awful 1-0 defeat to Birmingham in the playoff semi final where we beat them on penalties. It meant a trip to Wembley and I've never seen so many grown men acting like children after we got bast the Brummies. Worst game was the 84 cup final. We froze that day. It was obvious we were in trouble from the start. I was so dissapointed that we never even gave Everton a game.
hey there!! I normally only post anything on the official site, though that is few and far beteen these days, you might know me as Locutus_one, yes im a trekkie...!!! Good call on setting this up and best of luck with it, I have found over time that when things are said that the club doesnt like they suspend the message board, hopefully that wont happen here, freedom of speach and all that... though i would hope that should someone posts defamatory posts you have the control to remove them at your discretion. Once again, best of luck with this and long may it continue!!! A little about me, I am a lifelong hornet, and VERY proud of it, I am 40 years old and was at the FA cup final all those years ago, though we lost still i think the best achevement this wonderfl club has ever had. Long live watford, the premiership is a scarey place, but hell its fun!!!
Very true. Both Lu*on matches they suspended it last season for some time. Being the official message board i can sort of understand it, it's going to be the no.1 place for verbal fights to break out ahead of and after the game, but at the time it was suspended things were OK. Welcome wfchornet. Hopefully we'll grow in time, early days yet.
Right ! I've only joined here to hurl bucket loads of abuse at so called fans who have so much to say about WFC but rarely bother to get off their arses and travel outside the M25 to support their team. How can the levels of our away support be so pitiful this season. It just aint natural. I will continue to travel and spend all my hard earned on following the Golden Boys but after not selling out at Everton then less numbers travelling to Bolton and potentially even fewer going to Wigan, these journeys are becoming embarrassing. I'm fed up with hearing the home fans state "your support is f***ing ****". How can we argue ! We know it's true. Why is our away support so crap ? Can anyone offer any suggestions ? By the way - I'm new here : Hello !
Hello Goldenballs, As regards to the away support yes I agree it is appalling but that has been the case for many seasons and to be honest can't see it changing. I would like to go to the away games myself but unfortunatly I can't afford to and don't get the time, as I have a family and I know others who do go to away games have families so I not using that as a full excuse, but if I could afford to go I would. This topic would be a good debate in its own topic, don't you think? Cheers The Hornet
I am a little concerned to report that I have requested my email addy not to be made public and find that it is, please could you rectify this.... thanks
It's not public. If you log out and view your posts it dissapears. It's only viewable to you and probably admin. I had the same concerns. Dont know what other nutters like me may be on the boards.
I've created a test account so you can login to prove that you can't see your e-mail address. Username test, password test. Give it a try. Only yourself and and admin will ever see the little e-mail icon if you've decided to turn it off from public view.
You will prolly notice al that this was the only post made by this person, he seems to think that everyone can afford to go away ior have the time. I would love to go to every game but my job and my family wont allow that luxury, i work a lot of saturdays and have 3 children and a lot of bills to pay, and going to football no matter how much i would love to do it costs alot of money i simply dont have, also i find that only going to a few games a season makes the games all the more specisl to me. I have been a lifelong supporter of WFC and have probably been to more games over the years than he has considering that before i got married and had my children i was a season ticket holder for 7 years and rarely missed a game, but time moves on and people grow up and have responsibilities that far outweigh a football game, no matter how much i love the sport and this wonderful club.
I went to every game in the run that got us to the cup final in 84. Unless you did that then you're a glory hunter, even if you were born in 85
I went to an event once where footballists were exhibinting theirs skills therefore I am surely not a gloryhunter. In genuine answer to the question raised. As a percentage of population Watford actualy has a fantastic follwing. If you look at the catchment area taking into accoutn nearby London clubs who are more established in the higher eschelons, the question shouldn't be why is our away support so bad, but why is our home support so good? I expect if you look at the demographics (not sure if that's the right word but makes me sound intelligent so I'll use it) I would think that we have a higher percentage of family members than other clubs, understandably this type of supporter is less likely to travel and may explain the dissproportionality of our fan base. I thank you, I'm here all week.
