Would be happy with Friend, but 8mil seems quite high for a 29 year old

I was a fan of this guy for years but at this point i'd rather spend the money on someone younger

 

Boro fans seem to rate him very very highly. I'd be happy with him.

 

No more than £5m. Would be good backup/competition for Holebas

 

Yeah, don't really see a great benefit in this, especially for that price; wouldn't bring the average age down, and I don't think he exactly covered himself in glory last season.

 

Loan them Mason for the season and pay £5m.

Played 16 PL games last season and Middlesbrough fans say he wasn't the best.

Mason is a back up for reserves - if we want to stay in division he should be no where near a back up for 1st team

 

We deffo need a new younger left back, I would have had George Friend a couple of season's ago, but we have moved on now and need a younger better option. This would also free Mason up to go out on loan to get experience.

 

Started 20 Premier League games and came on as sub in 4. Was out injured for over three months too, so pretty much played every game when he was fit.

Ali Adnan, on the other hand started 8 games at Udinese and came on as sub in 6.

 

I would be really happy with this. Good defending and excellent going forward very direct and great delivery. Got pace and energy to burn and 8 million in today's market for home grown player is nothing

For some reason I thought Ali Adnan was a starter. I guess he didn't live up the hype of being the Iraqi Gareth Bale.

 

Wanted him 2 years ago when we were first promoted but now I'd rather go for someone younger like Tymon.

Would be good backup and is, by almost every account I've seen, a throughly nice bloke who would be good to have around. That's not to be underestimated given our squad last year seemed to be full of s**ts.

Mason definitely has the potential to be a very good LB. In the last game of the season against Man City he was motm and played very well. He was the only one on our side trying and did himself proud. He was having a great battle with Gabriel who is arguably one of the best, if not the best, u21 striker in the world right now. He showed pace, strength and wasn't afraid to put a tackle in, unlike the rest of our squad that day. You could tell Mason was fighting and trying to prove his worth and I think he done an excellent job.

Is he ready for the step up this season as back up to Holebas, I don't see why not. Give him all the cup games (which will be 2 games as we crash out to Plymouth and Gillingham) and bring him on as a sub against the likes of Spurs when we are 4-0 down at HT.

It all depends on what Silva thinks at the end of the day. I would like us to give him a chance like Everton give their youngsters a chance. However I'm not opposed to sending Mason on loan to a Championship team who guarantees to play him. I just don't want to see us toss him away and class him as useless because I generally believe he could be the next Rose/Bertrand if given the chance.

 

For £8million no. He's 29 and pretty average at this level.

For similar money we could get Andrew Robertson (unless Silva doesnt rate him) - I know he is close to going to Burnley but we could hijack that hes only 23

 

With the amount of cards Holebas gets, as well as being another year older, I think he'll miss a fair few games next year. Can we rely on Mason for the Christmas period for example if Jose gets injured? That's a big weakness for a crucial stretch of games.
