The Walking Dead was laugh out loud bad last night. What was once a great show reduced to absolute junk tv with terrible plot holes and even worse cgi.

I’ve said it before but I gave up on TWD after three of four episodes of this season. I’ve stuck with it since day one and there have been some brilliant series, but it’s done for now. This season (what I saw at least) was just pathetic, just people aimlessly running round with guns. Unfortunately the concept of the show means that it would inevitably end up turning to **** because you want the group to be safe, but there’s is no story there, so it just veers from safety to peril constantly, season after season which has now become tedious. The walkers are now background noise so it’s juys about groups of people fighting each other which was interesting at first about 5 seasons ago but now it’s just dull. Unfortunately with American shows while they make money they will still continue to recommision series after series but they really should’ve have stopped it by now.

Shame. I have "taped" that as my 14 year old is doing the fall of Troy in Classics at the moment and I thought watching that might help bring the story alive. 14 year olds are not renowned for having strong "quality control" filters so I'm not too bothered about that, but is it appropriate for 14 yr old viewing?

I didn't think it was that bad tbf, the shield thing was nonsense and why they didn't check the dump out after was mad but it seemed a marked improvement on the rest of the series.

I'm watching The Walking Dead right now, and it's so dull..

When are Rick and Began going to fight? When will the script writers stop drawing the season out?

It's a little bit racy with Paris and Helen but I must confess I too gave up as it is just not very good!
I'm delighted to hear people are still taking Classics!

    "The Terror" - wonderful stuff.

  15. McMafia. The title led me to believe it could be Scottish, but it appears to be about a Russian living in London and is variously set in Tel Aviv, Mumbai and Prague.

I'm not sure where the title fits in, but it is quite interesting, somewhat brutal but no nerve gas assassinations - yet.

Anyone watching ‘Occupied’ on Netflix? Norwegian drama set in the very near future with Norway occupied by Russia. The idea is a bit preposterous, but it’s played out more like Borgen than Chuck Norris and a decent watch.

    Things I watched lately:

    Altered Carbon (excellent)
Santa Clarita Diet season 2 (very good)
Jessica Jones season 2 (above average, nowhere near as good as S1)

The script writers missed a massive opportunity by allowing Rick to do the one thing that EVERY single viewer must have expected him to do and kill those saviours with Morgan after he had promised them a second chance.

This is exactly what's wrong with TWD. It's become so predictable. If Rick had actually stuck to his word, a the show would have had some much needed fresh faces introduced, and in time could have given them backstories and intertwined them in the plot. Sad to say though that they missed a trick here and allowed TWD to continue on its current path. What a shame.

I think that Negan is going to kill Simon in a pretty brutal way next week though

I've long given up on TWD. It's another Lost. Thinking back to Hershel and Glenn etc. It was a good show. Now who cares what happens?

Yeah those were the glory days, I gave up on this season after a few episodes, it’s absolute garbage now. I think I enjoyed it until terminus then it all went down hill. The one bright spot was obviously the Negan and Lucille bit but now they just need to put the poor thing down.

If you’ve not seen it yet (it passed me by until recently) This country is absolutely fantastic. The lead guy looks but also acts (and sounds) just like Gareth from the Office. I’ve not laughed out load at a comedy for a long while. For me I’d say it’s up there close with some of my all time favourites.

Given the darkness of the subject matter, they glossed over Terminus relatively quickly.

Take the unlimited resources of "National Geographic" with the full cooperation (and resources) of NASA (with a few of their astronauts providing talking heads) and you produce the awe-inspiring visuals of "One Strange Rock". The only thing I don't get is did they really need to have wise-cracking, professional NTBM* Will Smith presenting it (at least he's not singing his NTRM**)?

Very funny. The visit to minor injuries was brilliant.

Strangely it's also sad too. Poor Kerry Mucklowe.

    Cunk On Britain.
Philomena Cunk from the Charlie Brooker Weekly Wipe series gets her own show!

Diane Morgan's character walks around historical Britain starting a sentences in one place before finishing it somewhere else just like all good serious documentaries do. She also poses and states the most ridiculous questions and ideas to some incredulous BBC4 historical expert types who, if it isn't scripted, manage to stop just short of glassing her with a nearby 17th century wine decanter.

According to Cunk, Henry the 8th was a wife addict and had six wives all called Catherine.
This meant he was a Catherine-aholic. Or Catholic for short.

    Quality.

I only just learnt her Dad in the show is actually their Dad in real life!

I saw an article on the series "Keeping Faith" on TV last week and thought it looked interesting so I decided to download it.

I am currently wading through it and although it has a good plot, it also contains loads of very annoying "Mood Music Arty Farty"scenes.
However, I am now hooked on the plot so I am going to persevere through the "Arty Farty" stuff and carry on watching it.

I beleive there is going to be a second series, so my hope is the directors cut out all the "Mood Music etc." As IMO it is ruining what could be a much better program without it.

Agreed it is quality, and I found it very amusing.

As for the experts she interviews, they are either very good actors themselves, which I doubt, or they are more likely not in the loop and not at all sure if she is being serious or not, as they look totally bemused by her questioning. having said that some seem to catch on that she is just spoofing them and continue to play along.

Anyone been watching ‘The Terror’? On AMC. No spoilers pls if you have.

Tells a tale of two 19th century ships seeking the Northwest Passage. As the sea freezes it all begins to go a bit awry.

Very tense and engrossing. Not an easy watch, but have really enjoyed it if that’s the right word.t
