Favourite TV Series

Very enjoyable if highly silly. Skip episode 6 'The Lost Sister' btw. It's utter carp and just holds things up.

Borgen. Best drama series by far.

 

Loved it. She's the Danish Nick Clegg, but what a drama.

 

I like trying to get the other film references. Certainly ET, Alien, Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters, Stand by me...

 

Couldn't get into it. Having watched several other Scandi dramas, I couldn't understand why nobody was getting murdered.

 

She's believable & trustworthy, Clegg never was!

I can't recall a drama where, apart from the upstart young TV station boss and the Ekspres editor, every single character was likeable and believable despite not being perfect. I wanted the best for all of them! And I think I fell in love with Katrina Fonsmark in series 3

True, there were no murders but I found it fascinating from start to finish. I love all the Scandi noir stuff, especially The Bridge (4th series has just been commissioned!) but for me Borgen was a cut above even those. Genuinely sad when the last episode finished.

 

I agree, the best ever Scandi drama.

 

I'm still to start season 1!!!

 

I'm blitzing through Gotham. Started about 3 weeks ago and just at the end of series 2.

It's brilliant. Gory as hell but so much fun to watch. The casting is utterly perfect. Each character is brilliant.

Some parts are so cheesily bad that it still comes across as really good.

Absolutely love it.

 

Detectorists is back for season 3.

 

Mindhunter on Netflix is pretty good.

Based on the beginning of profiling criminals, and the research that went into it inside the FBI.

 

I finished the series, I think that you're a bit right about the lost sister episode, I think that it could have been merged in with the previous episode when Eleven met her mother.

 

Best thing on TV.

I think the new season has been utterly crap so far.

Conflict and fighting, good. There's been way too much pointless dialogue though, and stupid flashbacks. It's also being drawn out and for no good reason. Negan and the Saviours could have been killed after 2 episodes tops (and where is he btrw?), but it's still being drawn out!

Also, the King is a rubbish character, and so is his tiger. Yes of course a tiger could be domesticated.

An awful first 4 episodes with the odd highlight. Really disappointing how they've lurched from one place to another with little connection/story/direction. Unlimited ammo one week, everyone running out the next. Carol a demon marksman/markswoman one minute then can't hit a barn door the next. Bloke on the back of a truck with a machine gun can hit a car, but the bloke following it on a motorbike with a pistol makes a headshot. Are children writing the shooting scenes? It's insulting. Sad about Tigger though, how those slow moving zombies managed to overpower that monster is a bit of a mystery but seems to be in keeping with the poor writing so far this series.

That car chase scene was awful, especially how Rick moving out the way and Darryl being in exactly the same spot somehow tricked the bad guy into not shooting. And Rick suddenly realised he could actually go faster after the car had been shot to pieces. And the alive bad guy didn't think to swerve to the side so Rick couldn't casually step between the vehicles.

I've invested too much time into the previous series to give up just yet, but if this series doesn't improve I don't think I'll bother with the next one.

P.S. When are they going to kill off Carol FFS?!

Just watched 3rd series of Line of Duty on Netflix (missed it on TV). Absolutely brilliant.

 

Likewise, I finished it a couple of weeks ago. By far the best series so far, I've not seen series 4 yet.

 

Just saw 1st episode of the new series of Peaky Blinders, what a program that is, can't wait for next week

 

Have to agree. Love this program.

 

I only started watching it on Netflix last weekend. They have the first two series available, the BBC keep things on iPlayer for 30 days so I really hope Netflix can get the 3rd series in their library within the next 4 weeks so I can watch them in order, failing that I may just have to skip series 3 and watch each episode of series 4 on the last available day on iPlayer.

Thanks, I didn't realise and they're there for another couple of weeks. I'm halfway through S1E6 that gives me plenty of time to get through S2.
