Impossible question. I have a favourite film within certain genres but picking one I cannot do. Some are favourites from childhood that I may not think are best films but I enjoyed when I was younger more than truly great films ive seen recently.

    City of God
    IP man
    Shawshank
    Superman 2
    Empire stikes back
    Goonies
    Back to the future
    Donnie Darko
The good the bad and the ugly
    Batteries not included.
    Lion King
    Lord of the rings
    Temple of doom.
Letters from iwojima/flags of our fathers
    The sting
    6th sense
    Leon
    Big lebowski
    Aliens

I can pick my least favourite film ever, moonwalker by Michael Jackson. Parents took me and my brother to the cinema and we ended up watching this for some reason. I fell asleep it was so disappointing.

Agreed. The orginal Charlie is a classic and probably is in my top 10. The recent Wonky Willie film however is absolute toilet.

Agreed that intial scene with the walking stick.

The film also provided us with a perfect meme picture.

I had my kids watch it recently and am delighted to report, they love it, which means I will watch it another 50 odd times over the coming years.

I've got three kids and I've actually "worn out" DVD's of: "The Time Bandits", "The Dark Crystal" and "The Princess Bride" - all three of which had to be culled from the list to form my single favourite film.

EDIT: And the brilliant "Willow" (we're on the second DVD of this).

We had a VHS of Time Bandits as kids. Travelled with us on holidays etc. It's probably still in my parents' loft.

I agree with Pete. It is almost impossible to narrow it down to one film. It depends on your mood. The Godfather is a go to movie and probably my favourite, but I have seen it so many times that the impact is diminishing. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly is just incredible as is The Wild Bunch. At the same time I like silly comedies and Dumb & Dumber still makes me laugh.

Have to add one more...The Prestige

My favourite favourite Christopher Nolan film, grotesquely underrated, sublime performances and the more you watch it, the more you discover.
