I not only remember Lee Cook wanting to leave us for QPR, I also remember saying at the time that I was not concerned as we had a very exciting youngster ready to step into his shoes, a certain Ashley Young!

The rest is history as they say.

If after just watching your team win 1-0 away to go through to the quarter finals of the FA Cup your strongest feelings are frustration and irritation over the quality of the team's performance or the manager's choice of subs etc etc etc, can I suggest you seek professional help for the mental health problems that you clearly have

The worst thing about Friday night football is that you wake up thinking it's Sunday.
I nearly went to church this morning.. and i'm an atheist.

Tbh, we played City at the Vic and despite the result that night we almost got something. It all depends what team they put out yes I agree, but they can be beaten.

Assuming they get past Newport today, I think the fear factor of playing them makes them so elite.

Just imagine beating them with another clean sheet and Sema heading in the winner.

It's been weeks since our last good performance, and it's only a matter of time before results reflect this.

I'm not frustrated by it particularly, but does anyone really expect our match against Cardiff to be a humdinger where our scintilating attack overwhelms them and Foster isn't MOTM?

It would be nice to have the result AND the performance sometimes.

Awful game. May as well blame Michael Oliver.

I love winning an awful game when it means that with a decent draw we could get to the final and win the cup.
I know it is tempting fate but with Man U playing Chelsea and with Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool already out you would only need Man C to be drawn against the winners of the Chelsea match for the path to the final to be genuinely there for the taking.
These are great days for Watford - enjoy while it lasts.

Unlike previous seasons we are digging in through the hard months and will come out the other side in the spring playing that flowing football again.

Granted it was City but we were thoroughly outplayed that night.

was hoping to watch it in the pub yesterday , but instead they put the rugby on !!

watched the last couple of mins and QPR looked knackered so guessing they had been putting everything into it. Doesn't sound like a great game , however also sounds like we should have had 2 goals which sounds fairly comfortable.

as said many times above last year we lost almost all of these types of games, now we seem to be winning them - no complaints from me

    Talk about rewriting history.

Their keeper didn't have a save to make.....but conceded two goals. They dominated......but only had 41% possession.

Apparently that was an amazing performance from QPR!!…..wow, seriously if that was them on a good day, it must be very depressing watching them this season.

Why is it whoever we play the media build up is about the opposition team “overcoming Watford at the weekend to move up the table/go further in the cup”

Whether it’s man city, palace or QPR it’s always the same.
    We are the inconvenience.
It’s never us needing to overcome someone to get on according to the media

  20. Anybody moaning about last night's performance should be watching Citeh making a very heavy meal of Newport.

Nor did Gomes in the 2nd half - we were pretty comfortable 2nd half and with more quality/better luck with an offside could have scored ourselves.

Most of their fans think the subs actually made them worse and less effective.

According to 5 Live Millwall, Man City and Brighton are the only teams that are through to the Q/F of the FA Cup so far. Do we actually exist at all?

Well they did concede two goals. If Michael Oliver wants to incorrectly disallow one of them, that's down to him, but we did score two valid goals.

Bit odd to blame Oliver for it.

  28. hornetboy1

A bit odd not to. He was the referee wasn't he? Who else disallowed it?

The thing is, in all the games he's officiated Watford, he's constantly given controversial or incorrect decisions against Watford. I'm not going to let him off this time because his linesman signalled. He's got so much baggage from past games, he doesn't deserve any benefit of the doubt at all. There's no doubt what his game is.

  29. UEA_Hornet

    UEA_Hornet First Team Captain

Well, you say it was "down to him", when everyone knows it was his assistant's call.

  30. hornetboy1

    hornetboy1 First Team Captain

That is not correct. The assistant flagged but it's the referee's call. I've seen a referee overrule his assistant on many occasions in the past. Just because a linesman flags doesn't mean the referee has to side with him.

  31. UEA_Hornet

True. Lino gives Barca offside but the ref knows his place and promptly overrules. Goaaaaal!

Granted it was a wrong decision but you can't just make up the scoreline. You can't say they conceded two goals if only one is awarded. Otherwise we really are rewriting history!

  33. hornetboy1

    hornetboy1 First Team Captain

I didn't make up the score line, but you have to agree we scored two good goals on the day. This is all I'm saying. QPR did concede two goals. Had VAR been in use then both goals would have stood. Only a refereeing mistake changed the result, but the fact is QPR did concede two goals, regardless of one being incorrectly disallowed.

  34. Burnsy

    Burnsy First Team

That isn't a fact, however much you want to claim it is to underline your vendetta against this certain official. The score was 1-0 and therefore one goal was conceded.
