I reckon it’s a decent tie. One of the better away days, easy to get to and a winnable fixture. Every year it’s the same old ***** who moan no matter who we get drawn against
What a lot of moaners on here. It isn't a bad draw nor a great draw. It is one we could lose or win, so a decent, fairly even match. It's not far away and a big enough stadium to accommodate a good number of us. The possible downside is it will be the 3rd time we play them this season and sides get to know each other in that time.
For anybody willing to take a chance on a 3:00 Saturday kickoff, trainline tickets are £11.60 each way.
Southamptons a ******** and they've got the best striker in the league. It's a dreadful draw. And the new forest has got hardly any trees in it. *****
I was hoping for Milleall so we could get sone revenge but good memories of one of our best performances this season ring some bells. Yes our team selection and morale is more or less totally the opposite to that day but it’s still winnable. To be honest I’d rather beat them in five days time as we need the points badly and would be nice to get back to back wins.
You'd rather 3 points when we are in 10th position than a chance of winning the first trophy in our entire history with the best squad of players we've ever had. Ok then.
Well obviously I would love us to win the Cup and stay up, but it would depend on us getting back to at least half decent strength and depth in the transfer window. We made it to the semifinals a few times and the final once so there is the passion of the cup within the club and the desire to win it. Getting relegated and winning the cup no than
I would accept winning the FA cup and being relegated in the same season 100 times out of 100. Relegations and promotions come and go, but an FA cup win would stay with us forever. It would also guarantee us playing in Europe. Maybe I’m different but all this premier league b*llocks just doesn’t interest me that much.
Personally, I would settle for mid-table obscurity and winning the FA Cup 100 tines our of 100. Relegation doesn’t interest me that much.
At least this Hants/Herts Derby of Hurricanes Hardly Happening should be a shoe in for TV. The Neil Shipperley Derby
We WILL get relegated one day. It's inevitable. Whether we go down with a memory of 3,5 or 8 seasons of finishing between 8th and 17th, with a couple of bloody noses given to the big boys along the way is the difference. But a cup win is a cup win. Agree 100%. I'd take successive relegations to league 2 if we had our names etched on the trophy
Winnable tie if we play well, accept it's not exciting but we're much more likely to win away from home
It will be the same debate as we had two seasons ago when we drew Newcastle and played them in the league around the same time too. Win the league match or the cup tie etc? Huh the two aren’t mutually exclusive. Win them both.
Absolutely spot on. I can still vividly remember the utter elation I felt when Smart banged in the second at wembley, and when henderson nailed that penalty (although that tie was over long before then....) A cup win would be that x 1000. Our name in the record books forever and we'd be there to witness it. How many people can say that? Though I'm sure winning 1-0 away at southampton in the league will be just as thrilling.
A watford fan looking down their nose at a team with 2 league titles and 2 fa cup wins. Extraordinary. Oh wait, or are you barcelona this week after the coutinho signing?
Boring draw, but at least if we lose we lose to another PL club rather than the embarassment of going out to a tinpot team like we did at Millwall last year.
I had completely forgotten we had gone out to Millwall, so great are the number of embarrassing moments for us in the last year that they all blend together.
Southampton is always a decent away day, looking forward to this one (as long as it doesn't get moved for TV)
