Watching some of the lower league teams play on Match of the Day the pitches looked terrible and seeming as our players are made of glass you can bet that they would pick up injuries on them, that is the main reason I would prefer a home tie.
I think we'll be crap and fall apart (both physically and mentally) whoever we play. Might as well be a decent day out with the possibility of lots of beers, so we barely remember it the next day.
What a boring draw. Only interesting thing for me is Soton are my father in laws team, so there will be a little banter I guess.
Really wanted Rochdale or Carlisle, a team we havent played in ages. Soton is ok I guess, but dull. Just like the last round.
Southampton away then.. Well isn't this where one team wins the league game and the other in the Cup like Wolves a few years back?
Bleedin dic k, unnecessarily complicated. They might be **** right now, but they're still a Prem team and mostly a good one, and they'll have had a good chance to get reinforcements in by that point. Might also have sacked Pellegrino. Nothing comes easy, eh.
Meh no home draw I'd like cup progression but would prefer three points Saturday if we can only beat them once But maybe beat them twice in Jan
How? They will want Prem survival so might be tempted to play a weakened team, they are beatable. It isn’t City or anyone we have no chance against. And won’t be a humiliation to a lower league team if we lose. Southampton in the cup if I am told correctly holds good memories for us? no? Admittedly from a spectators point of view it’s not excellent but it isn’t really really far away
Similar size team to us, we are just as likely to lose as win, but if we do lose it will be majorly disappointing as we know they are a team we could’ve beaten but didn’t. I’d rather a bigger team, like when we beat Arsenal, or a much smaller team so we can be more confident of going through. Instead we’ve basically just drawn ourselves.
We also knocked them out the FA cup in 1960 when they were in division 3 and us division 4.. but i guess he meant the LC game.
As somebody who desperately wants us to win something and would rather win the cup than stay up, I think this is a decent draw. Southampton probably feel the same, that this is a very winnable game and presents an opportunity to get towards the business end.
