Doucoure wanting to stay and giving Snake the finger at the same time makes for a good day.

 

He's a £40m midfielder in the current market.

Which converts to £140m for Evertossers.

 

Doucoure has always come across as a decent, intelligent chap. I think he wants his next career move to be an actual top club, not a pretend one

Not a fan of the way he whored himself out in January, so don't personally buy the line of he WANTS to stay, I think it's more a case of he knows a move to a big club isn't on the cards this summer to a Liverpool, Man Utd or an Arsenal so would rather stay here than move sideways. Makes sense, but let's not kid ourselves, if one of the biggest clubs in Europe came in for him tomorrow his stance would be very very different. You only have to look at his behaviour in the media from January to April to see that.

Anyway, anyone that rejects Ssssssssilva is a legend!

 

Also I think it's imperative with this news that we tie him down to a new deal!

He's only got 24 months left on his current deal. We would get £15m at best if he doesn't sign a new deal and he wants to leave in 12 months time. Sign a new deal, play another blinder and we have £40m-£50m as a starting point for him!

 

Hang on, Everton are one of the premier league's renowned big 7 dont you know!

 

Footballers have a shelf life and they have a limited window to get a really big deal. If a really big opportunity with a club that has a near-term shot at Champions League football, of course Doucoure would jump at it - as would 99.9999% of people. All Doucoure did mid-year as answer questions honestly - after his agent and some journos looking for help for their pet clubs tried to stir things up a bit. Hope he stays forever, but six months to a year is likely. Of course, if we're sitting in the top 5 at mid year, who knows?

 

To be fair, he would be mental to not jump if the chance to play champs Lg football came up.

And likely triple his wages at a stroke.

Everton's move here suggests to me that they've not been able to secure/identify suitable targets. Silva knew all about Doucouré so they could've bid right at the start of the window with a view to testing the water and, if successful, having him for pre-season.

They didn't, but have tried it now, presumably in the hope that Doucouré would show the same character traits as Silva and try to force a move. Sounds like they don't really have any other ideas and this was a last throw of the dice at getting in a quality central midfielder.

 

Yeah, but we're one of the Big 14 now so if they think they can push us around, they've got another think coming!

Looks like he's waiting for one of the big 6 or a move abroad next year.
He is under 40 years old I doubt he considers Everton a big club.

Everton fans are getting nervous about their transfer business. They have only shipped out Rooney and Funes Mori and are well stocked in midfield. Pursuing Doucoure in a half-hearted way given the recent history does not make much sense. As we know Gino is no mug. Unless Moshiri puts 50 million squids in a one-off cash on the table offer and Doucoure wants to move they are completely wasting everyone's time.

 

I would imagine the club are willing to make him our highest paid player. I'd say give him what he wants to stay, £5m in wages over the season is worthwhile considering how much he'd cost to replace

 

Getting him on a new deal is better than any signing

 

Anyway according to the Wobby the reports are a total fabrication.

Obvious really, we all know Everton don't approach a club first.

I'd say just tie him down for this season, pay him however much he wants, then next season he has our blessing to leave for mega money. Then again he could just have a slightly below par season and stay with us for good!

 

Wouldn't be much use to us then.

We wouldn’t get mega money as he’ll only have a year left to run on his contract. Makes far more sense to get him to sign a new 3 year extension for example. Better money as a reward for last season and a gentleman’s agreement that he can go if/when a Top 6 club or big European team come in for him. That keeps him here for 12 more months and maximises our ability to profit down the line.

His tweet this morning (‘Wait and see’) makes me think a new contract is being signed.

The former relates to tone & nuance whereas the latter is more about communication of fact.

I fear AD has fallen into the elephant trap of using emotional emojis in a propositional context.

Latest rumours (very likely coming from Everton to disrupt the players) are interested in Doucoure and Richarlison and are suggesting that Everton are going to put in a 50m quid.
