Watford are one of 4 top flight clubs to fail to meet targets for wheelchair spaces.

Increased spaces by 60 but are 40 short so miss target despite not even filling what we have. What a load of guff.

I think this whole thing is completely counter-productive for the cause these pressure groups are trying to advance. Watford's overall capacity dropped by several hundred this summer so they could install wheelchair areas which now sit partially empty. And having done what they can the club still get consistently 'shamed' in the national media for it. It's pathetic.

Pretty sure I recall one of the WFC disabled supporters groups actually coming out and saying that they think it's stupid that Watford are being criticised for falling short of targets as they are arbitrary numbers (we don't have the demand for more wheelchair spaces anyway) and the club can't do a great deal more than they have, largely due to the wall at the front of the SGT.

EDIT: yep, UEA and the article say pretty much the same thing.

You're probably talking about David Butler who is the leader of (and prime-mover in) the WFC Enables disabled group.

He was indeed on the radio last season (with Richard Walker I think) suggesting a much more pragmatic approach to disabled seating numbers at the Vic. (driven by demand) rather than being driven by arbitrary numbers.

If able-bodied seats are taken out (and I think it's a 9:1 ratio) and then all the new disabled seats aren't utilised then that will only lead to resentment.

We also have a 'Sensory Room' for autistic spectrum kids of course. In a prime bit of executive box real-estate. One of only three clubs in the country with one of those and neither of the others are currently in the Prem.

Doesn't count towards the 'numbers' of course. But we should be 'talking it up' big time.

This pic backs up what you've all been saying (not that it needed proving ,as well all knew this to be the case anyway):

It's ironic considering how many of our players seemingly end up needing mobility assistance.
