Deeney: Silva is a better coach than Gracia

Silva is the best coach he's EVER worked with.

Way to go Troy. If you think Gracia is sh!t, just say so mate...

He never actually said that. He said he liked the way he came in and told everyone his methods and plans for the future and if the players didn't like it, they should leave. In other words, he believes Silva was straight to the point and organised - not necessarily a better manager than Gracia.

Deeney is quoted as saying Silva is probably the best he has worked with.

Presumably he has worked with Gracia?

Therefore in his opinion Silva is a better coach than Gracia.

If I were Gracia I'd drop the pr!ck like a hot potato. That's the kind of thing you write in your memoirs after you've hung up your boots - not while you're still playing for a guy you think is second-rate.

It's yet another case of Deeney not knowing when to keep his stupid mouth shut. Why doesn't he just shut up and play football? Is is it really that hard to just play and say nothing?

Or perhaps he presumed they were asking about previous managers?

He said when he was focused on the job he was the best.

He admitted that as soon as Everton came in he noticed slight differences, in other words it went downhill from there.

I dont see the problem with what Deeney has said to be honest, even considering how much I despise the snake.

    Why would he presume that?

Surely if you've got an ounce of common sense, your immediate reply is "This coach. He's fricking awesome".

Bizarre comments, all things considered. Maybe he's angling for a move up there, what with him starting the season looking better and fitter, and Everton's centre forwards being awful.

You might not have a problem with what he said - it might even be true. But Gracia might have a problem with it, which makes it an unbelievably stupid thing for the captain to have said. How is Gracia meant to feel about it?

Seems pretty obvious in the context of the conversation he answering on that basis. The whole conversation is in past tense.

The question was ".......and who was the best". Clearly referring to those worked under in the past. Gracia can't be included when the word 'was' has been used.

    Judge for yourselves.................

    Not so clear to me.

One has to refer to Ssssilva in the past tense.

Carragher chips in with the Gracia suggestion.

Odd from Deeney, even to allow any doubt.

Oh, I can't do this bed-wetting any longer.

Just for the record, I don't imagine for one second that Gracia gives a toss about what Deeney says, or what he meant when he said it. Amazing that people do though, judging by comments on Wobby and twitter.

  19. Or Troy was toeing the party line by agreeing with the Club's statement, after sacking the slimey scum bag, that Sliva was absolutely smashing until nasty Everton came along and distracted him.

If you put two and two together, with Watford likely at some point to be making a claim for compensation, it makes absolute sense, whether it is Troy's true opinion or whether it has come from elsewhere.

Troy couldn't have said anything more supportive of the Club's future interests in the tapping up case. I doubt he could have put it any better if Gino had written it all down for him.

If you are going to make a case relying on just how good a person was, you don't go slagging them off saying they were a load of old poop, because Everton will bring it up as evidence.

It’s unfortunate as Troy came across really well in the rest of the interview. I think he just didn’t think and gave an honest Troy type answer. It’s a shame as Carragher gave him a way out by mentioning the current manager (whose name Carragher probably forgot or was too thick to know in the first place) but Troy didn’t grasp it in a convincing way and went back to praising Silva.

It’s nothing like as damaging as the Arse comments. And in fact probably not really damaging at all.

    Interesting.

Agent Deeney fulfilled his mission perfectly.

Whereas Agent Gray would have scuffed his answer by saying ‘Pleat’.

    Troy’s a natural.

Looking forward to seeing much more of him over the years.

Btw, has Carragher now been officially rehabilitated after the Gobgate episode?

Maybe. but it all seems a bit too Machiavellian. I don’t know if the club and it’s component parts are that clever.

You don't think the club are clever enough to brief an important staff member on what to say during a scheduled media appearance?

  28. Not saying you are wrong, but I don't think it takes too much to work out that if you are going to be saying in front of a hearing how good Sliva was before the approach, it will do your case an awful lot of good if members of the team are out there pushing that point. But yes. There is a very good chance that this is Troy being honest. I just think its timing and nature is perfect; possibly too perfect for a coincidence.

The club are currently in the process of trying to nail Everton for tapping up Silva and adversely affecting our season. Troy's comments (on national television) can roughly be read as:

Silva is the best coach I've ever worked with. (insert subtext: and therefore the horrendous drop in form is solely attributable to the approach by Everton)

All good points except by submitting to the EPL process we have already agreed to abide by their findings and to forfeit any claim for compensation. They could order Everton to pay us but that would be highly unusual and would not amount to millions anyway. The EPL normally receive the proceeds of any fines in this case from Everton and (hopefully) their officials.

  31. I agree with you on face value based on what was said, but I strongly suspect, as I have said before, that we haven't heard the last regarding compensation. The idea that, if they should do so, the PL find Everton guilty of tapping up but then stand in the way of Watford receiving any recompense for our season being deliberately screwed over, without us receiving a penny from Everton despite getting their man is rather unbelievable.

I believe that the only thing we turned our back on is a mutually agreed (with Everton) compensation through the official arbitration process, in favour of handing the case over to the PL as a rule violation. Which is what was described in the Club's recent statement. A civil case, however, is no business of the PL, and to attempt to stand in the way of us suing Everton for losses would create a god awful mess that does not bare contemplation; therefore I believe they will either stand back and watch us take Everton to court, or, more likely, provide an acceptable alternative by working compensation into the punishment dealt out to the scousers, if found guilty. I would prefer the court case, but I believe the PL will look to keep it away from going that far.

I’m sure the club brief players but they’re not likely to know all of the exact questions that would come up to tell him specific answers to give. My main point is that even if they thoroughly brief Troy tends to be a bit of a maverick who is speaks his mind and is honest. I mentioned the component parts of the club as I didn’t want to specifically reference Troy as not being clever cos he reads everyone’s comments and he’s a big lad I don’t want to get on the wr9ng side of.

People may have a point about the timing of the comments and the wider agenda but in my opinion it’s just Troy being honest.

It helps if Kabasele texts them all in.

Deeney's prep on favourite meal (pizza) & favourite band (C*ldplay) were, unfortunately, wasted.

Deeney also did Gino's bidding in stipulating the required transfer fee for Chalobah (£50m) & edged up Maxi's value by naming him best player at the club.
