DAY 1 - Werewolf 2018

On a cold and misty morning, with the sun not quite above the horizon some screams were heard from the centre of the village. These were not ordinary screams, these were diabolical ones driven from a victim who knows his final moments are being played out. The screams got louder as the enduring pain worsened, until suddenly they stopped and a split second later the sound of something slumping to the floor was heard, then a crunch, then a tearing sound, followed by more strange sounds.

One hardy villager peeped through the curtain but the light from the square was drowned by the mist, the horrid sounds from the vicinity still continued. Suddenly over to the left he saw the village postman heading towards the direction of where the noise had come from, then what appeared to be a silhouette stand above the man growled menacingly at the poor postman. As it was about to attack the man frozen in terror the first chink of light from the sun appeared between the hills in the distance, the shadow ran away into the mist knocking over a dustbin.

Then all of a sudden another scream was heard, this time it was the postman, a different scream as he had found the bits of a body of a man torn into 4 pieces; one piece still had the head attached, it was Otter, the fear was locked into his dilated eyes. The postman shouted, "The wolves are back!", he ran back to his van and drove off never to be seen again.

A short while later the sun had burned the mist away, the villagers descended upon the gruesome scene in the square. 19 sets of eyes gazed at the horror, who could have done such a terrible thing in their village? No one said a word at first until Optimistichornet, the village doctor, strode over to the remains of Otter. "I think there's nothing I can do for this chap.", then With A Smile tentitively said, "I'll get my brush and clear it up shortly." The others went about their business particularly PowerJugs who put up a large sign on his shop front "Extra Strong Double Glazing".

There was something lurking in the village once more, could it be one of their own?

The village is open:

I will not be around between 8:20am & 9am, half an hour around lunchtime and my appearance will be sporadic after 5pm.

The village will close after all 19 votes are in or 8pm which ever is sooner.

2: Regarding posting, I require that all participants add at least 2 messages and vote each day, I may be forgiving in extraneous circumstances but... FYI new to this game, there are two possible scenarios where a living player doesn't chat or vote on a single day because they will not be allowed to do so, therefore please bear that in mind, and it's up to you to work out whether such players are good or evil. Only the player(s) in question will know those circumstances, I may not divulge whether a living player is supposed to post/vote that day.

Not yet. As soon as someone's quiet in this game they get suspected, so it's a bold move.

 

Morning all. I actually just went and checked the roles to see if there was one. There is not!

 

It's the two scenarios I'm not getting, if one is that they are not allowed to.

 

The way I read it is everyone must post at least twice a day unless restricted by Otter thus confusing the rest of us thinking they are evil for trying to hide , does that help any PO?

 

Not really, I get that part, it's the two scenarios causing me immense angst.

I lifted this directly from Wikipedia in the rules for Mafia (Werewolf):

Handicapper roles[edit]

• —Silencer, Dentist, Prostitute, Fog, etc.

The Dentist may select any other player at night, and prevent them speaking during the following day.[34] The Silencer is a mafioso with the identical power, except that they may not silence the same player on successive days. The silenced individual wakes in the morning and is immediately instructed not to talk until the end of the day. They can still raise their hand to vote in live games (although, if they were silenced by a prostitute, they are not allowed to vote).[51]

So theoretically, anyone could be silenced for a day. Although of course, this could be a different role.

 

I'm the Dentist, Moog is the tart....indeed this gets curioser and curioser.

 

Would be a good idea to outline the standard roles for everyone in a 19 player game as well as these weren't in the initial thread i.e 2/3/4 wolves? Guardians? 2/3/4 Masons? etc.

I'm in Monday trade so will be sporadic this morning but can look it up and post this afternoon if no one has in the meantime.

 

Scenario 1 is forbidden. Everybody HAS to vote, nobody can't not vote as a tactic. Scenario 2 is crystal clear.

Possibly not a good idea as it may conflict with Otter's rules.

4: I will not reveal how many or which special roles are active in this game, however at the time of death I will post whether a player is EVIL, GOOD or VERY GOOD.

He already said the numbers and specific special roles would be kept hidden. Better leave it to him for any clarification.

 

Looking in from the outside (neighbouring village) this has all the markings of Holebas....

 

* Number of wolves should be apparent from the number of kills on night 1.
* Other main roles may also be implied by what happens on day 1 & night 1.
* Any new roles is for you to work out.

* One of the two possible non-communication scenarios cannot happen on day 1, the other scenario will be obvious and I will announce it at the time should the need occur.
Depending upon how the game pans out, it may be that neither scenario will happen.
