Yes he definitely appears out of shape .... but he is back at the club early and getting himself in shape - surely that willingness is a sign of a good attitude and a desire to be ready for the new season
@Burnsy "He's had all manner of injury issues as well though to be fair - nothing of the sort has been reported with Rose?" I don't think so, though he's not really played enough recently for injuries to have been picked up or to have affected anything else. Plus with Hazard it might have been that him being out of shape could have contributed to him being more injury prone.
I know that - as I said, him letting himself get so out of shape could have been a contributing factor to getting more injuries afterwards. Maybe that will repeat itself with Rose this season?
This will definitely have been a factor in his injury issues. The vast majority of the time he spent injured was due to muscle injuries so no doubt in some way linked to his poor levels of fitness.
Reckless decision to sign this guy, who takes up 2 seats on the bus, and a guy who fights with teammates about seats on the bus.
Poch was at our training ground yesterday, presumably to visit his son, but while he was there he he gave his BIG mate Danny a hug.
Judging by the video the club just put on Twitter, Danny still has a long way to go. Not talking about his weight, he just looks like he's moving in slow motion. That or he's just really uncoordinated. He could have just finished a monster training session but he definitely looks sluggish rather than sharp.
Weight is still definitely part of the issue though. I think Masina can feel safe about starting the season at least.
I think I'm being a bit unfair, he can train all he wants but he's not going to get back up to speed without minutes in actual games. Training is probably being used to get him in shape but games will show us where he's really at.
I wonder if that's impacting any potential Doig deal? Maybe the plan for the season is Rose and Doig with Masina going to Udinese, but if Rose isn't gonna be fit for the early part of the season maybe we don't want to commit too early?
Didn't like him as a potential signing when he was fit. It's a joke that we have signed him in this condition.
Still a month until the season starts. I think he's just always looked a little on the thick side, at least for the last few years anyway.
I think he’s let himself go over a prolonged period of time and that’s why he could barely get a kick for Newcastle 2 seasons ago, while nobody would touch him with a 10ft bargepole last season. Step forward Watford.
I can clearly spot man boob outline, which suggests he is transitioning. Leave him alone you bunch of bigots.
If we're not letting Troy use that as an excuse, with aeons more experience in the attempting of it, I don't see why we should extend Danny/Daniella* that courtesy. *Delete as mentally non-bigot appropriate at time of reading
