Granada latest club to be linked to Cucho. How the tables have turned, since the Pozzos sold up, they've been relegated, promoted and now qualified for Europe. Now they're offering to take one of our best assets off our hands on loan because we've messed up and got ourselves relegated. https://www.ideal.es/granadacf/granadacf-fichajes-cucho-hernandez-objetivo-20200803201214-nt.html Nice thank you video from Mallorca too, obviously made a good impression once he got fit, from looking at his stats thought he might've had a disappointing season. https://twitter.com/RCD_Mallorca/status/1290217416098684928?s=20
Granada had some fantastic players last season. Soldado, Herrera on loan from Man City, Duarte and Fernandez. Good side.
It's all down to King Foulquier. Got relegated the season after he left them. Qualified for Europe the season he re-joined.
If we can't get a work permit or a Spanish passport sorted for him, then we should probably focus more on keeping Suarez and sell Cucho. While Granada are at it, they can have Penaranda back too!
Did it by myself. I found citizenship filing is actually fairly easy compared to getting an initial visa and then green card. The fact you can e-file goes a long way towards helping with that. There is a PDF on the USCIS site that pretty much guides you through the entire process. They're much more helpful now than they were when I originally filed for my K-1.
Cucho only signed a new contract with us last summer so there's no rush to sell him unless we get a crazy offer. Chances are he'll get a work permit in January.
Fair point, but we will still need enough forwards; given Pussetto got no look in. Would give lots of left sided forwards, but a good reason to shuffle Welbeck more central if he stays.
Suarez is more of a central striker than the rest, **** knows if we're keeping him though. Strange one, we have so many forwards who can play centrally but who prefer the left, but we might be able to get away with playing them as central strikers in the Championship
Or go crazy and play them on the right and let them cut inside to shoot. Let's face it we've had no-one who can cross a ball for years, so wouldn't lose much...
They're all right footed anyway, so playing on the left does mean cutting inside to shoot. To my knowledge we don't have a single left footed attacking player except Sema, who's obviously been out on loan and may well not be coming back.
It's why left-sided forward has become probably the most crowded and competitive position on the pitch in football - lots of attacking players have realised that the easiest way of getting shots at goal is finding space on the edge of the box, cutting inside and shooting (usually curling the ball in to the opposite corner, which is easier to consistently get clean and assurate contact with than shooting positions where you have use your laces); it's almost like a cheat code, you often don't even have to dribble beyond a defender, you just go alongside them. But obviously as more players are right footed they're wanting to pick up the ball in the same areas so they can do the same thing. PS I don't think Sema really counts as "attacking" either, he was another of the many wingers we've had who were better defending than going forwards. Sarr is a rarity nowadays in being a forward/winger who prefers and is better playing on the same side of the pitch as their favoured foot. Most the top right-wingers in the world are left footed eg Messi, Salah, Mahrez, Robben, and most the best left-wingers are right-footed, eg Sterling, Rashford, Hazard. If we were to play a two striker system we could do with another striker who is happy and capable of getting goals from the right hand side of the box, as a combination of two from say Welbz, Suarez and Cucho would probably be the be too similar to be effective.
That's quite something. If assumed that the ones I hadn't seen play were left footers. Maybe we should stick Sarr on the left!
I think Sarr would be wasted on the left. His main assets are his pace and acceleration, and he can use that on the right to skin the full-back. Very few players nowadays have the pace and ability to regularly run in behind full-backs in the way Sarr can, especially given how fast full-backs often are now. However, Sarr's shooting technique is questionable. The advantages of having a player on the opposite wing to their favored foot is that they don't even need to have enough speed to beat the full-backs in a foot race to the byline, (or in a staight line in behind them to goal as CFs such as Vardy utilise) ; it's more about having the close control and agility to weave between players, especially in tight spaces, to just make room for a shot, and then having accuracy in your shooting when you get the chance. Deulofeu when he played on the left epitomised that style of play. Sarr wouldn't get to stretch his legs if mimicking it, and the lack of power and accuracy in his mid-range shooting would be highlighted. Plus, as has already been pointing out, we already have too many left-sided attacking players, so why also add our best (though perhaps only?) right-sided attacking to that list?
I was just messing around. But you make some excellent points. Sarr is going to be good enough to play anywhere at this rate.
This is a great point, but I’m still a believer that the most dangerous pass a player can make is the ball pulled back from the byline into the area which is moving away from the goalkeeper and defenders. The old-fashioned winger would do this by getting beyond the opposing full-back through speed or trickery and crossing the ball with his ‘correct’ foot, i.e. left on the left wing and right on the right. Better still, if a winger were two-footed he would have the option of crossing or cutting in to shoot.
Some football hipster has worked bloody hard to come up with a wacky stat about our boy Cucho: Cucho Hernández was the most efficient prolific dribbler of the ball under the age of 23 in Europe last season. 30% of his dribbles resulted in either a shot on goal or a freekick for his side. A dangerous, explosive poacher but also a forward capable of creating openings. www.twitter.com/SimonEdwardsSAF/status/1290480369116958727?s=20
Sarr to Welbeck against Woolwich is a perfect example. It's simple, effective football. Teams now always try and overcomplicate football. Barnes and Callaghan were excellent at this, as were many more we had under GT. Traore to Jiminez is another example this season.
Yes agreed. But it's effective when they did. Welbeck could of had two by these simple tactics against the Arsenal. If not more.
Been linked with a loan to Granada in AS. Didn't say whether it's a season long loan or just until January when he can get his work permit. Be brilliant if we could keep Deulofeu until Jan and then bring back Cucho as a replacement
Joining Getafe on a season long loan with no option to buy. https://twitter.com/pipesierrar/status/1294014803271397383?s=21 Shame it’s gonna be another year before we see him and it might be time we reassess this transfer theme where players reach a stage where they have the ability but not the passport! Still it’s another step up in level in La Liga and he’s inching his way up the table!
Makes sense if his Spanish passport application has been held up due to COVID, or because he doesn’t qualify yet. Considering we’ve had it confirmed on here by some posters that’s he rubbish, I’m quite surprised Getafe wanted him. Sarcasm aside, as you say, nice to see him continuing to find good moves, and hopefully it’ll be the last loan before he’s able to make an impact on our first team.
Gets to meet up with and chat to Allan Nyom about what a good club we are and how we binned him off after one season where he was great for one half and rubbish for the other.
There must have been a snag somewhere because he was at the club training and doing tests for a few days last season and was publicised by the club doing so - they obviously expected to have him. So I expect he normally would have qualified for a passport... My guess is the Covid hold up reason - or simply Suarez has now been seen as the immediate priority for a place in the squad and they feel Cucho would be better served getting another year of regular game time.
Great move to a very decent club. More exposure and first team football just in time for him to join us back in the PL.
At least Getafe will teach him a few tricks ready for the Championship, they're a horrible dirty side.
Anyone know of any loan fee? Or if it is at all possible to cut the loan short like we did with Estupinan?
