    No comment Clive ?
Sounds awful. Worst still, I fly there in 2 days for the start of a 9 day holiday.

Yes, I have already emailed the BBC to ask why the 3 deaths and 180+ injured are not considered newsworthy. There have been no reports on TV or radio at all, whereas if it had happened in Beaver Creek, Idaho there would have been saturation coverage, live reports from the ground and much more besides, including a look back in a week's time to see how residents were managing to recover.

As far as your visit is concerned, the districts worst affected are Luyano, 10 de Octubre, El Cerro and San Miguel de Padron. None of those are tourist districts, so you should be fine. Habana Vieja is unaffected and the Malecon didn't even flood. Some power cuts, but getting back to normal now.

Which hotel are you staying in compadre?

They do have coverage on their website. You might not be seeing it because the articles you see are based on geolocation.

Armadores I think ? Apparently flights, hotel and car hire are all ok. Mentioned it at a quarterly board meeting today with shareholders and VCs and no-one was even aware. Our office manager told me and it took her several attempts before I stopped laughing assuming it was a windup. Have you got any relatives out there who might have been impacted ?

Decent old hotel that. Havana Club museum nearby is a must and you can take the little launch over to Regla, which is a nice day out. Don't forget to go to the Tropicana cabaret. Paradise under the stars it is. No other cabaret will do. Also another good night is in the Habana Libre hotel on the top floor. The roof slides back open at midnight.

I'm not surprised nobody was aware of it. The reporting has been almost zero. Nothing at all on the radio or TV.

Yes, we have relatives in Havana, but everyone's OK. No problems. They're in Centro, Marianao and Los Pinos districts which were all unaffected. Thanks for asking!
