Very good that. Also because it holds your attention with the visuals too.

Interested to know why you want Rich dropped, fitness or poor form? If you think fitness I'm not 100% sure I could agree, but would agree due to poor form. I don't think one leads to the other with someone at his age. IMHO he is just another young confidence player, a goal or two should get him going again, you have to play someone like him, that's why the managers have been. If you don't I am pretty sure he will sulk. Anyway, he'll be off in the summer to the highest bidder, almost guaranteed.

A strong mix of both, I think the 2 are related. I'm not his biggest fan but Arsenal was exactly the sort of game where we should've played Gray alongside Deeney. Sure Richy would sulk if he were dropped to the bench but if we played everyone that didn't want to be on the bench we'd have 15+ players on the pitch!

True, but we all know Rich would be particularly immature, he proves it time & again on social media. Amazing we have become one of these clubs that can't control their ego centric Prima Donna's. We had it with that Nyang too. Another one we & the media lorded/hyped up to be better than he actually was. He went to Torino with Walter.

Rightly or wrongly I've come to the conclusion Gray isn't playing because it will shortly trigger another payment to Burnley. Maybe we can sell him back to them in the summer, SD knows how to use him properly. I have often wondered if SD was manager could he get any more out of our current squad but actually I am more inclined to believe this squad has all but reached it's natural mid-lower league table position. I mean this regardless of manager.

Top 10 can forget it. Anywhere above 15th will be acceptable as far as I am concerned.

I fully expect Gray to be leaving in the summer, but I can’t see that it would be to Burnley or any other Premier League club. I think people have accepted he’s not quite good enough for this level but is a big asset in the Championship. Having said that, I agree with Reids that both he and Deeney would have benefitted from playing together on a few occasions.

Richy has had a few weeks off recently & also on another 2 week break now, how can we realistically say that is too much playing time for a 20 year old. Surely we have to stop making excuses for a player that has high expectations on him but is in a bad run of form. Missing chance after chance is not fitness related it is confidence. If the club genuinely thought it was fatigue he would not start.

Championship has 46 games, Our over paid divas have got it easy.

The lad is 20 and in a foreign country for the first time. Some of what you say is right but maybe some perspective on the bit I’ve put in bold would help.

I get you are effectively concluding with no real evidence he's over worked, it's an easy presumption to make but did you realise this in turn means you know more about Richarlisons fitness than a Dr + a trained medical team at the club, that work with him every day? Both I respectfully doubt or do you really know better.

He is not injured. A 20 year old can easily play once week for 90 minutes with no fitness concerns, if he is genuinely good enough. You can see the frustration in him when he's been subbed recently, angry at being taken off. Is that the mark of someone that needs a rest, more like frustrated he's missing multiple chances & being replaced by someone else.

GT played Barnes in 53 & 54 games respectively in 82/83 & 83/84 seasons, as a 20 year old, arguably a much more physical game then & recovery methods in those days was a cold bath & sponge, no million pound sub zero ice chamber machines installed at the training ground then.

Give me a break he's overworked.

Eh? That has nothing to do with my reply to your post. I didn’t question any of that. I questioned you suggesting he may be an ego-centric prima-Donna. As I said, he’s 20 and new to the country with no knowledge of the language or culture so I think that assumption is a bit unfair. Many of the other things you point to may or may not be true.

The point about Richy is he's not currently doing it for the team. Therefore he sould be dropped. Everything else is detail.

On the other hand, I would guess that players now need to be fitter and cover more ground. Not 100% sure though.

I’d also say that despite how good Barnes was, he wouldn’t get in our starting line up now, how much the game has changed.

He's not learned anything since he arrived. He's literally the same player we saw in August, but now teams just double up on him. Possibly that's down to him adapting to a new country, but I've seen so many wingers over the years that plateau and never push on.

How many times this season has he taken a shot when there was no possible way he'd score? You would think by now he'd have learned to pass. No surprise as well that he's ranked 7th in the league for big chances missed

Personally I’m glad he gets annoyed or upset when he comes off. Shows that he cares. Better than him walking around the pitch and sulking when things aren’t going his way.

Whether it’s because he’s tired or out of form, think most of us are in agreement that he needs to be dropped for a game or two. Problem being that we don’t really have anyone who naturally fits in down the left who deserves to play.

I also don’t get this assumption that it’s likely that Richarlison will be moving on in the summer. His form has played him out of a move for me and I am pretty certain he’ll be here next season. Let him go home to Brazil for the summer where he can watch the WC or whatever, recover for an extended period and I think he’ll be all the better for it.

Let’s be honest, Gino is going to want a lot of money for him given his age and potential. I suspect it’s more than any club will be willing to pay this summer in relation to the product they’d be getting. If he’d scored 10+ and kept his form up, it would be different.

John Barnes could walk into our current team backwards. Who in your opinion would keep him out? He would be first on the team sheet and virtually undropable.

My post was not a comment on Barnes’ ability, per se, more on how the game has moved on. I don’t think any player from his era would get in our team now.

Plus he’s really fat now innit

Sorry, I still don’t get the point. Are you suggesting the 80s players would not be fit enough to get in today’s team? GT would have a good laugh at that one!

I think the pace of the game has increased massively.

I’d be interested to see what distances players in the 80s covered back then, compared to now.

Yes he did. Barnes was probably a better player first off, but considering Richarlison hasn't had a break in about a year I think tiredness is a factor. When I played to a decent standard it certainly was a factor, you would play very well for a while when you're feeling fresh, but then one thing goes wrong and you can't snap out of that bad form. I never realised I was tired but after a few months off I would be back to playing well again.

There's so much more to it than you're assuming.

Surely Barnes had superior raw talent. And that would have been worked on by modern methedologies to make him just as astounding a player now as he was way back then.

    Only cos he’s 54.

The 25 yo version would start for Man City (ahead of Sterling).
