Italian media linking us with left back Antonio Barreca, Monaco defender currently on loan at Genoa. Played one match on loan for Newcastle a while ago. The #WatfordFC search for Antonio Barreca del #Genoa . Proposal for the left-handed winger to take him to London immediately @TuttoMercatoWeb
Wouldn't be surprised if this was true. Clearly a player of great promise when he was younger but has struggled at the majority of clubs he's been at. Never really settled and has been constantly loaned from club to club. I'd be surprised if this is anything more than a loan, or just a nominal fee purchase. Would be a typical Pozzo signing though. A player of pedigree who has lost his way in the game.
I liked him in The Mask of Zorro. If he brings that kind of swordsmanship to our backline, I'm all in.
Ha, I think Amrabat was the only other player I've ever seen that had a list like that. Having said that, there are some bizarre assessments of our current squad on WhoScored, my favourite probably being that Pussetto's top listed strength is "Aerial Duels"...
Ha, never knew who scored had that. Troy Deeneys lists "Indirect free kick threat" - Aren't all our players indirect threats on set plays?
Read a few articles earlier that stated he was extremely promising a few years ago - hence why Monaco bought him for £9m. Sadly it was at that point that his promise stalled - still only 25yo though so if we could get him motivated, could actually be an astute addition. There’s clearly talent there. If we can get him into form, he’d be more than good enough for this league in my opinion.
Could be a shrewd piece of business Could be the next Isaac Success That pretty much sums this guy up. Was tipped for a massive career. Was the Italian u21 LB and meant to cement his place in the senior squad, made a big move to Monaco and his career plummeted, basically. Hindsight, he should have stayed in Italy. He still has time on his side, but it’s going to require him to seriously knuckle down. It really is hit or miss with him. If he’s managed right, works hard and get his head down to actually do something with his career, then we will have a very good player. If he doesn’t, then it will basically be another Isaac Success.
Hopefully Vlad has had some input on the possible signing of this guy, and maybe Vlad thinks he can get Barreca to fulfil his original potential. If that is the case and he does not cost much then it's a yes from me, because if anyone can get the best out of this guy I think Vlad is the man.
Seems like a pretty low-risk move to me, if we bring him in and he does well, fantastic, if not, we still have King Ken to play there. Would probably prefer someone like Manning all told though
Would prefer Manning but wouldn't be surprised if we are hoping to get this guy on loan for a year then Manning for free when his contracts up. Don't think it will work that way as Manning won't want to spend a year in the U23s with QPR

Not that I particularly wanted him, but I think he'd have been better off in the Championship rather than Serie A. Oh well, got a couple of days to get Giannoulis, or failing that, we have a bit longer to get Manning
Don’t know much about him but has hardly ripped up trees and suspect it would have been more a repeat of Neuton than Ngakia
