Previous discussion on this thread suggested buying 2 left backs (one as a back-up), on the assumption that Holebas won't be staying.

Perhaps we'd be better spending all of the ear-marked money on a better quality home-grown left back (Ake ?) and continuing to develop Mason as a back-up.

 

Holebas is one of our hottest prospects and should stay IMO!

 

I'd be happy if he stayed. I like him, and I like his passion for the game, even if it a little over-exuberant sometimes. Well, it a little over-exuberant more often than "sometimes".

But, as others have mentioned previously, I don't think he'd be happy to stay as a back-up.

To be fair, I'm pushing at an open door - I don't think he's happy about many things.

 

I suspect he won't be around come the start of the season unless we fail in our efforts to bring in a new LB

 

I would be very sorry to see Holebas go

It amazes me that most WFC fans loved Robbo, but do not like Holebas, because I think they are both cut from the same cloth.

 

I could be wrong but my impression is that most WFC fans like Holebas very much. I certainly do. Good player & very entertaining!

Hardly. Robbo was a far superior defender. Could actually stop a cross. Holebas better going forward. But that's it.

 

Robbo didn't throw his toys out of his pram, whenever things weren't going his own way.

The only similarity is that they both are solid left backs, who love a card.

 

Although Robbo's cards were mainly for meaty fouls, not mouthing off at the ref.

Hopefully Gino pushes ahead quickly as Robertson to me seems the best of all the defenders we have been linked with including Gibbs. There is a long standing Liverpool connection so we can't muck about if the vultures are circling the wagons, as we all know the Pozzos never...ever...get drawn into bidding wars. COYHS!

 

If Silva was really convinced about him, considering he managed & selected him for 4 months, then I would have expected the move to have been made by now.
The fact it hasn't suggests Silva is not convinced.

 

There was an almost throw away line in a report earlier in the week (I think it was then) when we were linked once more that said it was the player who wanted time to consider his options. So not necessarily Watford dragging their heels on this one.

A lot of Liverpool fans on twitter are saying they don't want him and are hoping he joins us.

Liverpool are clear favourites for his signature in the betting market and he of course would choose them over us.

However journalists at TeamTalk are reporting that he wants to link up again with Silva. Hopefully we get him.

Don't really rate him, would only be a back up to Gomes and Pants at best .

Would rather we pushed the Pickford from Everton deal , over the line .

 

The Pozzo's aren't serious about us. Robertson, Zouma, Lacazette, Rooney and Hernandez all missed.
