I'm hoping that this means a couple more top signings are just round the corner (along the lines of Alcacer).

Either that, or Doucoure's ambitions as a player amount to little more than being part of a relegation dogfight.

 

The Duxbury statement of Doucoure's ambitions matching the clubs own has got me thinking while England struggle to get the final Indian wicket at Edgbaston.

Was it;

a) Just your average press release guff.

Because;

b) Nobody actually came in with an offer for the player.

c) Doucoure has been promised the club won't stand in his way if a side of a certain standing come calling, minimum price withstanding.

Or;

d) Doucoure has been promised the club have certain strategies in place that will guarantee growth.

e) Players have been lined up to sign that are of a standard that should see WFC push for a top 10 place.

f) He lacks ambition and is happy being idolised at a small club rather than disappear behind internationals at bigger clubs.

England have thankfully taken the 10th wicket.

Like every other replacement contract, a break-clause will now exist in the form of a release clause at a fee of about £40m I would guess. This break-clause can’t be exercised within X amount of time, normally the first 12 or 24 months of the replacement contract.
