A corner turned? I've been a critic as have most. But he was unarguably immense tonight. Is he a good player performing badly? Or a bad player who has a good game 1/10? Discuss...

    Better in a back four.

I think you have hit the nail on the head.

My friends and I have noticed this before; in a back 4 he can be an Allardici defender, just remain positionally disciplined and head and smash all the balls away from the goal type area. He also gets to play the same position he has played throughout his career and play next to our best individual centre back, Seba. He doesn't find himself in positions to wander up past the halfway line trying to be Steven Gerrard, and he doesn't have to think too hard.

It's not that he's turned a corner or changed his form, he just isn't capable of functioning effectively in a back 3 and is capable in a back 4.

    Turned a corner? Nope.

Simply an excellent performance from a decent player who seems to make an easy scapegoat for the certain section of fans who do such things after a poor team performance.

Showed what tonight meant to him in his celebrations after the game also.

I like him. Not perfect, but then again who is?

  7. Luther Bassett

Yes, this. He needs to forget about being the new Beckenbauer, just put him alongside Prõdl in a back four and we'll be OK

Lets just hope that his and Capoues exceptional performances last night were not down to their old Spurs loyalties when playing against Arsenal, but I fear that they might be!

I think it's probably more the case that they hate spurs, rather than would want to do them a favour, considering the way they were treated there.

Can perform in a back 4 or the middle of a back 5. Doesn't have the intellignence/athleticism to consistently defend in wide areas, nor does he have the ability on the ball to start our attacks as a RCB. At CB he can rely on positional play and aniticipation rather than marking and tracking wingers all over the pitch, as well as having less of the ball to hoof forwards.

Apart from possibly Kabasele (rcb, not RB) who has some pace and can pass, I don't see how a back 5 benefits any of our CB's

Our central defence is pretty slow. Against Arsenal we mostly sit back. At home when pushing up and especially in a 3 this can catch us out.

Even though he's been hit-and-miss, I did hold the belief that he would grow into the team. Hopefully he uses Tuesday's game as a boost. Hopefully the whole team will.

He was OK a month after he came and found his feet, then his form dropped quite dramatically.

Defiantly better in a back 4, looks much more comfortable. There again the whole defense look better as a 4

So apparently Kaboul is hoping to be back before the end of Jan. He suffered a broken metatarsal in training whilst recovering from his hamstring injury and had surgery last month. Why don't the club ever mention this stuff?

Last we heard he'd pulled a hamstring and would be out a few weeks. Now it looks like he'll miss about half the season.

    Useless!

Well any update on his injury?

Presume they expected him to be fit hence dropping Wague from the 25 man squad?

Has this man been kidnapped and taken to Saturn to run an outlet centre?
Is he the new face of Dairy Lea cheese?

Can't find the article but there was a line from one of Gracia's recent press conferences (maybe before Bournemouth?) where he said Kaboul wasn't close to a return. Wague meanwhile is fit but can't play, another triumph of planning from the medical team.

Gracia gave a promising update on Kabasele at his press conference last week:

    http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...st-on-gerard-deulofeu-and-nathaniel-chalobah/

But he then undermines it somewhat by saying Wague is fit too and, "We will see if they are available to play Burnley at the last moment". I'm not expert but I think the chances of Wague being available to play anyone for the rest of this season are somewhat slim.

So, This is how it goes down. Wague plays against Man Utd for 3 minutes, we get docked points for fielding an ineligible player, even though we lose handsomely and we go down. Hb1 has a statue commissioned to commemorate his moral victory,
