I think he should be kept on in some sort of coaching role, and possibly be registered as a player for backup in the case of a GK injury crises.

Actually we are looking for a new manager, I reckon we could do a lot worse than to give the job to him. Does he have any coaching badges, or are they actually a necessity?

You cannot give him a job based on sentiment. As far as I know he has no coaching badges. We already have a goalkeeping coach. Apart from his sympathies from Bolsonaro he's been a more than decent player for us. Unlike many others he is a sympathetic figure in that he gets what it means to fans wherever he has played. A lot of our current squad just treat it as a job. They have that disconnect with supporters.

Thanks Heurelho for your time at the club. Good luck with the pastor ship and perhaps you can see what a disaster Bolsonaro is. You go with our very best wishes and there will always be a seat for you at the ground. Thank you.

Showing his love for the club there.

A big part of our promotion and Premier league life.

Despite the long goodbye, it's genuinely sad to see a club legend go. What a terrible shame that we weren't in a position to give him a proper send-off. Seems he won't be at the club in any capacity next season, but I hope he'll continue to be a mentor to Joao Pedro from afar

He would be a great club ambassador representative if he goes back to live in Brazil. Promoting the club to young talent. One of may favourite players of the last 40 years

Great player and a great guy, I wish him well for the future and he has already earned a spot in the WFC hall of fame IMO I hope he remains involved with our club in some way, he will always be welcome here as far as I'm concerned :)

We gave him a proper send-off last year at home to Palace in the cup QF. The Rookery sang his name, he cried, it was a fitting goodbye to a loyal servant. Then we gave him another send off at Wembley when we beat Wolves, because he inexplicably kept being picked. The bloke had his send off twice. Less said about his third send off the better. But frankly, keeping Gomes last summer was just another symptom of poor decision-making from those building the squad. He’s definitely had his goodbye though.

I wonder does this announcement suggest we have a third choice keeper lined up/Parkes has done enough in training to take the third spot.

I had a feeling we didn't announce he was leaving (same with Mariappa) in case we were going to approach them at the end of the window if we couldn't replace them.

Wow....that was emotional. I don't think I've ever seen a player so upset to be leaving the club as Gomes, although I know Fessi also cried when he left too.

I still think he could have done a job this season, as Foster's number 2 and he clearly wanted to stay.

What a great guy and will be a massive loss as a person around the place. I hope once the fans are allowed back in the stadium and we have a full house, to bring Gomes back at half time for a proper send off. He totally deserves that.

What a star man. Will really miss him.

I'm sure he's right about Joao Pedro, breakthrough season ahead.

Top man. Football does move on but I'm with HB1 and I hope he comes back at some point so he gets the send off he fully deserves

One of the best signings of the Pozzo era but I think he's had his send off. Twice over. Will clap him when he comes back to do the 50/50 draw or whatever though.

We should definitely invite him back for a proper send off from the fans when full houses are allowed again, he deserves it.

Thank you HG and good luck in your future career :)

What a genuinely lovely guy and how much he loves the club. We must be doing something right as a club if a footballer can feel this string an attachment . Also was brilliant for us for a couple of seasons . Thanks Heurelho and farewell !
