Ruble withstands the curse of θάνατος to win Madrid, having been ill all morning.

Good on him but probably won’t be feeling so great tomorrow.

Feeling considerably better than Harriet Dart who lost first round qualies at the Foro Italico.

    Tsitsidosa split.

Shocking decision from Mohammed L in the Fabio v Edith match last night.

    Dreadful, dreadful umpiring.

Fabulous tie break from Sramkova, the Slovakian qualifier to beat Katie Boulter.

Extraordinary match as Tsitsi defeats his Νέμεσις Jan Leonard Struff 4 in the third.

Clearly still upset over his break up, the Greek smashed a racket after losing serve in the first game!

However he pulled himself together and started to slice low to Struff and came through.

    Hubie defeats Rafa with ease.

    Sad to see.

I think Rune could easily be the Danish entry to Eurovision.

    Easily camp enough.

    Tabilo has been rising rapidly.
ND has hardly played so always difficult first match back, for anyone, even him!

Rumours circulating in Gazzetta that Sinner's doctor is advising he doesn't play at RG,due to his hip problem.

A decision to be made later this week.

What a big loss that would be for the tournament, and a shame for Sinner too.

    Not good I agree.
    Tsitsi destroys Mr Boulter.
    Medivet out to Paul Tommy.
Baby Fritz beats an erratic Dimitrov in three.
    Swiatek imperious.

Nasty fall again for Zverev, the man who in a full restaurant at RG, before Rafa's 10th title made a very loud, very unpleasant comment.

    Some would say karma.

Jarry the doper wins in three.
    Can't accept him competing.

    Yes cheats can win occasionally..

Probably didn’t expect to see 2 Chileans and an American in the semi finals!

Sounds like Raducuna has pulled out of the qualifiers for the French open .

    Unlikely!
    Is that so?
I hear she is bemoaning the disparity in earnings.
Tennis is,thanks to BJK as equal as any sport is.

If I were a cynic I would say this is nothing to do with gender but the fact that she's now a left side of the draw player, rather than a right side, which she became briefly at Flushing.

If I were even more of a cynic I would point out that her various endorsement deals, Tiffany's,Porsche etc etc mean she's as rich as Croesus whether she ever makes a quarter final ever again.

Although paying off the WFC like number of coaches she hired for two years probably eats into her capital.

Victory for Italy with Paolini and Errani beating Routliffe and Gauff in the Champ T.
Although the Kiwi/US pairing will feel they donated.
Iffy forehand and serve of Coco hands too many points latterly to the Italians. Match point a prime example.
