Great age and decent finisher, wonder if we would be within with a chance?

Why are they releasing him ? Not good enough = not good enough for us ? Wages = too expensive for us ?

Just from Wikipedia, it seems like his appearances to goals ratio in his career to date is absolutely fuccking terrible...

I assume he didn't have a great season - but Birmingham fans seem resigned to losing Bielik. He's one I have always thought would be a good fit for a position we don't have much quality in. Ethan Laird and Drameh (on loan) might also be available and we definitely need another RB to challenge Andrews.

Blasts from the failed transfer past there! While I don't think Brum fans like Laird, I'm sure he'd have been an upgrade on Gaspar at right-back, and didn't Edwards want Drameh for us before he eventually got him up the road?

1 in 4ish for a youngish striker at a poor team isn't that bad in my opinion.

Shown a lot of promise as a youngster, but has struggled with injuries, would be a truly Watfordesque punt

Following that up by moving on to Transfermarkt, it seems as though his record for the senior Stoke team (not the u21s) across all competitions is 36 in 164, which is 1 in 4.5.

For a striker who turns 25 this calendar year, and has played as a centre forward more often than not, it doesn't fill me with a great deal of confidence, I have to say.

Former Man Utd youth player who Cleverley might know, with recent Championship experience, on a free transfer, and clearly a complete to55pot (the story below is not the first thing I've heard of him either). Welcome to Watford, Brandon Williams!

Or just a bad driver. Joking.

    Anyway….hear me out.

He can relate to Cleverley as they have been through the same system - and he’s clearly been rated enough to a level where United feel he was worthy of First Team PL minutes. He also started this season as first choice for Ipswich and they were winning games even then.

I’m sure there is likely an equal amount of negatives - but Christ, get him in. If his character is dodgy, at least it’ll be entertaining - the exact opposite of James Morris and the backup RB we don’t even have.

You've got to be a complete to55pot to be repeatedly speeding and to have got in to multiple crashes because of it - which he has.

In one of the crashes he was said to have been inhaling laughing gas while driving.

It has been strongly rumoured that his "injury" at Ipswich has rather been him sent to get treatment for his fondness for the stuff.

Fair enough. Wasn’t really bothered enough to look.

Still, we have signed/retained players who have done worse. Not saying it’s okay or right - more that I doubt it’ll be much of a consideration if the club/Gino think there’s a deal to be done/buck to be made.

I know - that was evidently one of the reasons why I joked about him joining us.

But perhaps we might change our approach to signing players who have already demonstrated to have unprofessional attitudes?

Cleverley and Joyce would have a fair bit of info on him anyway. But then again so would have McKenna before taking him on loan, yet he clearly failed to rehabilitate him.

I'd forgotten about Drameh. Difficult to pick which one would make more sense as a potential signing for us. Laird seems to have been a bit better at Brum, but Drameh was very good at wing-back for Lut0n. Perhaps whichever one would be least likely to throw their toys out the pram when rotating with Andrews. Perhaps Drameh might actually make more sense as he can also fill in at RCB - albeit he's not as good there as he is at RWB. On the other hand, Laird has the Man Utd connection.

I'm not so hot on Bielik any more - despite him having some ability, that's two Championship relegations in quick succession for him now; the guy appears to be cursed.

Speaking of blast from the failed transfer past …. I see Lewis Ferguson has been named Serie A midfielder of the year !! Pretty sure we were after him and wouldn’t offer the £2.5m Aberdeen wanted

Apparently Laird played on the left when they were both available which might lean into him being a bit more adaptable.

    But…

I’d say Drameh is clearly more attainable - as Laird will cost money.

Given we had a season of Kenan the asthmatic tortoise"" Davis, blowing out his ass for the games he was fit enough to start, it's little surprise that you got excited about any potential replacement.

Chance for us to make some positive change and pick up some lower league talent and youngsters released by prem teams. Others have had lots of success in recent times doing this….

Do we envisage Cleverly raiding the lower leagues due to our financial situation, or will we see more foreign dross brought in? The later would suggest to me he’s not being backed in the transfer market with players he actually wants.

What are us fans hoping for ?

We're going to sign Bayat sh!te, that's for sure. Charleroi could be quids in this summer as Pozzo dips into the Bayat budget. This is different from the actual transfer budget which is £0, funny how we always seem to find the money when Bayat is involved.

Don't forget the random Colombian kid, the Bayat Bargain Bucket and South Americans of wildly varying quality are two areas we're never short of in the market!

I’m going to stick my neck on the line here - I don’t think we will sign any Bayat players next season.

Although I will stop short of suggesting he won’t be brokering or involved in any deals that we do complete, as he clearly has his claws into the club so will pocket some money somewhere along the line at Gino’s behest.

I’d be surprised if we looked too much down the leagues (not saying I wouldn’t) - I think it’ll be PL loans, maybe a couple of kids released from good academies, players with Championship pedigree and/or 1-2 from Udinese.

Not sure if it's a name that's come up before, but just seen Paddy McNair is being released on a free from Boro.

We could do worse than look at bringing him in for a bit of competition at the back.

I have an inkling that Williams is the subject in question for this article, considering the details given and his track record that you mentioned about driving under the influence of laughing gas and the fact he's not played since December.

The article also mentioned that he'd been in rehab, which I'd heard/speculated was why he'd been out of action in recent months. Yes it seems very likely. It's pretty concerning, the guy seems to have real problems.

I hope he can sort himself out as he had plenty of talent.

We don't have a pot to piss in, even on the level of teams who don't have a pot to piss in. Of course, for many of us, this is not revelatory, but once again, to be in this shockingly bad a place financially in just the summer our parachute payments officially end is so laughable, it's hard to believe.

Looking forward to the rejig our squad needs on the pitch again with several major positions reinforced or replaced, ready for our assault on the title.

I look forward to us spending £0 on actual transfer fees, and somehow still managing to put another £10m in Bayat’s pocket.

How tf did Pozzo spurn 6 years of PL money so quickly that we’ve descended into this farce?

He spurned the prem money and a lot more in staying there, and then failing to stay there. That’s why we had so much new debt to shift after failing to bounce back. You don’t make a profit from life in the prem unless you just accept relegation like Norwich, Luton and Sheff Utd have all done recently. Luton will get a new stand out of it rather than making a serious attempt at staying up.
