Maybe we can sell Asprilla and get him loaned back for one season ?

As you say he has been disappointing, but not worst in recent seasons.

I’ve sussed it you want Martins out because his surname is a Christian name, I’ve got news for you Dennis and Lewis will also be gone next season, I hope the board don’t realise Andrew’s is also a christian name :)

Perhaps the most disappointing, because he did start off this season really well, Keinan Davis was never that prolific for us even before his long drought and Araujo always looked a fish out of water, but if Martins had kept up his early season form he'd have been some player...

Hoedt-as well as getting goal of season at Hull. Hoedt also spoke for Yasser (young player of season) so after the game it was the Wes show.

Based on what? It'd probably be the biggest blow out of anyone in the squad if he left.

It wasn't that meaningless given we'd gone so long without a home win and didn't want that recor stretching over the summer until next season.

Don't - he's not that good (at least right now). If he's going to be playing any kind of significant role next season it'll be a concern.

Surprising Sierralta didn't do the translating, as he's been here long enough and Hoedt hasn't played professionally in a Spanish-speaking country. But he's the skipper, and knows the script (his translations into fluent English seemed to take a lot longer than Yasser's mumbles, so I wonder if he was really translating or was simply saying what Yasser ought to have said. Didn't he say on Yasser's behalf that he was looking forward to playing hetre next season?).

He spent half a season on loan at Celta Vigo, which isn't long, but since I presume he has a decent command of Italian from his time at Lazio, that probably helped him to learn Spanish! BTW, the person who suggested he speaks Portuguese was almost right, in Vigo they speak Galician which is actually closer to Portuguese than Spanish!

It was good to watch the extended highlights from the club, and the goal was enjoyable.

However by far the best moment was the Hull lad falling over the ball when it broke to him at the box near the end.

    Oops.

Very lucky because Bachmann (who was totally exposed) still wasn't in position to stop the shot, but he recovered bloody well when Roberts did fluff the shot

Bachmann seems to have upped his game recently (not without his weaknesses before I get shot down by people saying he's stuck to his line )

He's the best Austrian keeper around. That's his line, and he's sticking to it.

Am I the only one who doesn't think he's all that?
I believe that his selling price will be nearer the 10mill mark than the 20mill a lot of our fans are expecting
Yes he looks decent amongst this bunch, but look what we are comparing him to, he's no Ashley Young, Almen Abdi or Allen Neilson that's for sure.

Different player to the last 2 and younger obviously but yes guess he probably does need more end product and goals like Young did.

Probably be the middle of those two figures.

Thing I've noticed is his touch isn't consistently good enough. I'm sure he's got all the skills on the training ground, and he does some awesome things on the pitch too at times, but in the eye of the storm in a game I've seen his touch let him down quite a bit. Sometimes to ridiculous extents like a not too difficult ball just pinging back off him 10yds away straight to an opponent.

Under the tweet with pictures of the two award winners the club account put out on Saturday, the first reply (for me at least) is from an account that says 'Thank you Asprilla for all that you've done'.

Now, unless, he's been secretly popping round fans' houses to carry out some quick DIY jobs or drop a grandparent off at the hospital, that stood out to me from the moment I saw it as pretty perfectly embodying the performative faux-grandiosity with which the modern footballing media landscape has infected every element of the game (similarly to how legions of grotty urchins now insist on their god-given right to invade a pitch everytime a team scores a hat-trick, hanging over the barricades/advertising hoardings for half the game so they can secure the opportunity to throw limbs out on the turf [and on TikTok] rather than just in the stands like a bunch of madlads).

I like Asprilla, of course, and it'd be nice to see more of him here (though we seemingly won't). But what an amusing way to frame it; how utterly overwrought. What exactly is it that he's 'done'? Other than play the occasional nice pass and liven up our play a bit, whilst receiving tens of thousands of pounds a time to do so.

I guess what I'm saying as I make myself sound at least 30 years older than I am, is that I agree; I can obviously see the potential, he's still very young and inexperienced even at this level, and he's been a rare bright spot when it comes to technique and excitement, at times. But a decent amount of fans can't seem to help themselves these days but overreact in the most bombastic way to anything that might just have a chance of becoming a 'narrative', and in terms of being genuinely impactful, we don't have that much to be grateful for at this moment.

Did anyone get his shirt !

I noticed they still had loads of stewards round the edge of the pitch .

Do they really think someone is going to run on ?

Sorry but it was meaningless. Yes it was nice to win but was anybody really that bothered.
Not sure how much you've seen of Orient this season but the fact he got young player of the season surely means he's been pretty decent

I presume unless he wants to go Hoedt will be staying but never know.

Suppose it took the monkey off the back winning at home finally.

We will see I guess - have had other players well on loan and not always come back a success but if we want younger players then they will need to get a chance.

He certainly has his fair share of trampoline touches.

He is similar to Sarr in a way that he has turned in plenty of poor to average performances where he gives away possession countless times, but he does also have the ability to pop one in the top corner and win a game. A player of moments.

I reckon Asprilla will look much better in a better team, that said I think another season playing every week with us would be beneficial to him.

Asprilla sees a pass that nobody else could spot. I suspect that his miscontrols happen when he's looking for his passing options. He's a a very young and very entertaining player who can only get better. And his song works well!

They have done a mic’d up feature from the Luke O’Nien handball in the game .

Thought he was a lucky boy not to get sent off but maybe the officials knew we wouldn’t score !

    It was Martins going through.

It was always the right decision by the laws of the game and that explanation is pretty clear.

Most interesting bit for me was that whopper Bachmann charging up the pitch for no useful reason actually distracted the officials in the moment where they were thinking about what to do. What a clown.

Yes lucky not to get booked really .

Agree if the rule says they have to be in control .

Martins would have probably fallen over by the time he got to the goal .

He would have drifted out to the wide left flank, before completely-unexpectedly cutting back in onto his right foot and sending a harmless 20 yarder wide and 3 feet over the height of the bar.
