Supposedly have signed young Colombian CM Elan Ricardo for just under £1m. https://www.antena2.com/futbol/watf...lla?amp&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
https://www.antena2.com/futbol/watf...lla?amp&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter 20 year old Colombian defensive midfielder is apparently signing (or has signed). Watford continues to set its eyes on Colombian talent. The English Championship team has striker Yaser Asprilla in its ranks and is about to announce a new coffee-scented reinforcement. In the last few hours, it was revealed that the elks cast is close to closing the arrival of a tricolor player. The deal was made between the British and one of the Betplay League clubs for a midfielder from Barranquilla. The negotiation was for one of the promises of the FPC that has shone with Equidad Seguros. The 20-year-old footballer has played 17 games and scored 6 goals, being one of the figures of the team led by Alexis García. According to the information revealed by Carlos Antonio Vélez in his 'Planeta Fútbol' program on Antena 2 , the European club will add Élan Ricardo, Equidad player , as one of its new cards for the 2024-25 season. Currently, the midfielder is worth close to 550,000 euros, but the deal would be for a little more than a million euros. The person in charge of taking the Atlantic player to international football would be the Italian agent Gino Pozzo. From European soil, we wait for the conclusion of the negotiation between the parties. The Colombian soccer player is one of the key pieces in the Equidad campaign and hopes to have the option of being in the dispute for the title to embroider the first star of the insurance team. Not very convincing data, will put up some clips later when I'm slightly less busy! Edit: oops, Burnsy beat me - please merge!
Some fantastic translations in that article: "Watford continues to set its eyes on Colombian talent. The English Championship team has striker Yaser Asprilla in its ranks and is about to announce a new coffee-scented reinforcement." Sure this'll be a latte fun when he gets to grips with the EFL.
The kid seems like he can tackle. But everything else at first glance is clearly very weak. I suspect this will make it less likely we try signing Kyprianou for £millions again in the summer and as is typical for us we've made a cheaper South American punt instead.
Hard to tell as who knows what level these clips are from but he looks like a (very) budget Capoue in playing style to me... Also looks pretty chunky and very slow.
First article translation calls us "The Elks" which I can only presume they've got from looking at our badge.
Seems like one of those talented South Americans who is very wet behind the ears, where there's absolutely no guarantee that they'd hit the ground running, typical Pozzo
Oh bore off Wendover. The fact you know nothing has been played out long ago. I literally know he was an Ismael target FROM THE MAN'S MOUTH HIMSELF. Go back to making up stories about Duxbury telling you we were buying a RWB whilst you and him had a tender moment together celebrating a goal - or when you spent good time chatting with Giaretta at some fan event where he told you all about our grand plans...which didn't come true before he bolted for the Cypriot coast.
Whilst I'm not doubting your ITK credentials, I will feel more confident when ITK Ignacio confirms it.
I disagree that he looks "very slow". He certainly doesn't seem quick in terms of his top speed and will probably be a tad slower than average, but if you look at the two clips at 1:07 and 4:50 they show he seems nimble enough that it shouldn't be too much of a drawback. I'm guessing from the vid he's probably Kayembe-paced. I'm actually reassured by that vid as it appears he is at least capable of playing a bit. Whatever those stats are from above suggested he was basically a budget Choudhury, who just tackles but then is incapable of doing anything other than make a 2-yard pass once he has the ball. The player who comes most to mind style wise to me when watching those clips are Bruno Guimaraes - with his stockiness and high level of aggression, but also throwing in the occasional South American flick every now and then. The chunkiness appears if anything to be a plus point for his role, as he demonstrates he is good at using his frame to barge opponents off the ball then hold them off once he has it. It shouldn't be as if he'll need a season to get used to the physicality of the Championship as was the case with JP and Asprilla.
Are you not though the type of poster who has proclaimed that Pozzo never listens to his mangers when it comes to targets and basically just gives them the players to work with? Then the managers have to play yes man to the media that it was who they wanted all along (e.g. Edwards with Manaj and Gaspar)? I'd be surprised if we'd have made any attempt to sign Kyprianou if the club hadn't rated him.
I didn’t say the club didn’t rate Kyprianou? I also don’t really proclaim that Pozzo doesn’t listen to his coaches? On this matter, I just know for a stone cold fact that Ismael was desperate for Kyprianou and he was one of the players he personally requested - the club didn’t say no. They tried to do a deal up to a value they perceived to be fair. P’boro said no, Ismael sulked a bit and wouldn’t accept alternatives. We may try again, I don’t know. But I’d be surprised that’s all given he was always predominantly an Ismael target. (For transparency on my first point - I actually posted in defence of Edwards when he claimed he wanted Gaspar and believed him! More fool me.)
But you aren’t correct. Yes HK was the player VI wanted. And I agree he wouldn’t accept an alternative. But he agreed with the bid. Peterborough also felt it was a fair bid but the timing wasn’t right for them, where did I get this from? No not Watford, it was Barry Fry. Don’t believe me if you don’t want to but I could prove it if the was a direct message. You are very aggressive, haven’t posted on here for ages. Now I remember why.
Eh? Literally none of that contradicts my initial post saying he was an Ismael target and he was upset we didn’t get him? In our many previous exchanges you asked me not to respond to you. Extend me the same courtesy because I got bored of your schtick a long time ago.
Surely you know Wendover knows everything from transfers to current finances to transfer budget to Ngakia’s minimum wage contract? You can tell this because he loudly and at great length tells all at any twitter space that will have him. Must be true.
Better latte than never, though I doubt he will be ready in an instant - will need to percolate for a while.
