I loved smoking, after a meal it was wonderful. Then the price went up to £5 and so my last day of smoking was 13th April 2003, (the Semi final against Southampton). Giving up, as GoBE said, was a bast*rd, the pain was so bad for so long that I knew then the addiction that was on me. I've never smoked since. Then the heart attack 15 years later and the lovely gentleman that put in my stent told me I'd looked into the crevasse. Yes it was the smoking. All that hard earned money to addict yourself to nicotine which will kill you. If you don't think you're an addict then don't smoke for 24 hours!
I've got a lot of respect for anyone who managed to kick smoking. I've seen so many people struggle with it. Big props to you both.
Ex smoker here, it stinks, its very bad for peoples health and should have been phased out 20 years ago. I am all for this new law. My Mum died of COPD related issues just over three years ago and she had given up smoking 20 years earlier.
An ex smoker never really gives up…I stopped last year but still crave an odd one at times. Normally when stressed or with a beer in hand. But to date managed to avoid caving. Respect to all those that have managed to kick the habit..,
